High-quality development of agriculture has become a new goal of agricultural policy, and new agricultural business entities, represented by family farms and others, are developing rapidly and becoming a living force in the development of modern agriculture. However,at present, family farms in China generally lack the awareness and action to consciously participate in environmental protection activities, lack effective supervision and restraint mechanisms, and have a low level of their own environmental protection knowledge. As one of the new agricultural business subjects, the ecological conscientiousness of family farms in agricultural production directly affects the condition of rural ecological environment. Therefore,in the context of the current serious ecological environment problems in rural areas, cultivating and improving the ecological consciousness of family farmers is one of the important ways to solve the ecological environment problems in rural areas.Rural China is a society of acquaintances, and social relationship networks play an important role in the process of high-quality agricultural development.Systematically exploring the relationship between social capital and ecological consciousness of family farms provides a new theoretical perspective for future sustainable agricultural development and economic growth.By improving the ecological conscientiousness of family farmers,it contributes to the sustainable development of agriculture in Henan Province, thus promoting the overall development of agriculture and rural ecology, economy and society in Henan Province. This paper firstly compares and reviews relevant domestic and foreign literature and summarizes relevant theories, including social capital theory, sustainable development theory and farm household behavior theory.Second, based on the research of related scholars,we characterize ecological conscientiousness from three perspectives:ecological value perception, ecological environmental protection attitude and ecological behavior tendency, and social capital from three dimensions:social trust, social norms and social network, and theoretically analyze the influence of family farmers’ ecological conscientiousness respectively, based on which we propose research hypotheses.Again, the actual situation in some regions of Henan Province was considered comprehensively, and 202 questionnaires were collected from Xinxiang,Xuchang and Zhumadian cities in Henan Province as the research areas, and descriptive statistical analysis was conducted on the basic characteristics of farm owners in the sample areas. Then,on the basis of the questionnaire sample reliability test, validation factor analysis, correlation analysis and good situation of differential validity, the SEM model empirical analysis was conducted using AMOS21.0.According to the empirical analysis,it was concluded that social trust, social norms, and social networks can significantly and positively influence family farmers’ ecological conscientiousness, and the effect of special trust on farmers’ecological conscientiousness is greater than general trust, the effect of formal norms on farmers’ ecological conscientiousness is greater than informal norms, and the significant effect of homogeneous and heterogeneous networks is not significantly different. In conclusion, social capital had a significant positive effect on family farmer ecological conscientiousness. Finally, based on the above research basis, countermeasures are proposed:to vigorously promote the discovery and efficient use of farm owners’ social capital, improve the degree of social trust, activate the level of social norms in each dimension, and enrich social network relationships;to strengthen the concept of sustainable development of family farms;and to expand ecological development paths.
