A Study On The Impact Of Conch Cement Environmental Responsibility On Enterprise Performance

In recent years,China continues to strengthen environmental regulation,and has achieved certain environmental protection results.However,there are still many heavy pollution enterprises passively respond to or even evade responsibility due to the need to invest more money to fulfill environmental responsibility.As an economic subject pursuing profits,enterprises’ pursuit of long-term economic interests is still the intrinsic motivation for them to fulfill their environmental responsibilities.Therefore,only when environmental responsibilities is consistent with the goal of creating enterprise value,enterprises will be more actively involved.Therefore,in order to promote enterprises to fulfill environmental responsibility,it is necessary to find out what tangible and intangible benefits environmental behavior can bring to enterprises,which requires us to answer the question of what benefits environmental responsibility brings.Can companies really balance environmental and economic benefits?So it is of great significance to study the impact of enterprise environmental responsibility fulfillment on corporate performance to explore how to motivate enterprises to take the initiative in environmental protection.In combination with sustainable development theory,corporate reputation theory,stakeholder theory and relevant literatures at home and abroad,this paper sorted out the research results of enterprise’s environmental responsibility and its impact on corporate performance,and reviewed the literatures.Then,the impact path of environmental responsibility fulfillment on enterprise performance is elaborated.Environmental responsibility fulfillment cannot improve enterprise performance in a short term,but can be achieved by formulating appropriate environmental strategy,gradually strengthening green innovation,implementing green reputation management and other paths.This paper focuses on the cement industry as a heavy pollution industry,and takes conch cement,the industry leader,as an example.Through the analysis and comparison of its own behavior,Conch Cement’s environmental responsibility has a positive impact on both financial performance and non-financial performance under the pressure of industrial capacity reduction and environmental regulation.Active implementation enables Conch Cement to improve the cost control level,establish a good brand image and improve the competitive advantage.Combined with the characteristics of cement industry,the successful experience of Conch Cement shows the outstanding fulfillment environmental responsibility on enterprise performance is to obtain cost advantage through green innovation,and to obtain differentiation advantage through green reputation.The contribution of this paper can be summarized as two aspects,first,past researches always less focus on the influence of environmental responsibility on enterprise performance,and less consider the former’s influence on the non-financial performance,this article analysis the environment obligations how to play a role on enterprise performance through the case study,it is helpful to explain what tangible and intangible benefits the fulfillment brings.Second,the current researches on the environmental responsibility and enterprise performance is mostly empirical analysis,with few case studies.This paper takes Conch Cement as the specific case object,combined with industry background and characteristics,and it’s results are relatively more typical,representative and universal.It is helpful to answer how cement enterprises fulfill their environmental responsibilities under the huge environmental pressure so as to achieve a win-win situation between environment and economy.To sum up,it is hoped that the study of this paper can provide some enlightenments for cement enterprises to actively fulfill their environmental responsibilities.
