With the continuous improvement of urbanization level, the urban population agglomeration effect gradually appears, the daily production of domestic waste in cities continues to increase, and the phenomenon of garbage siege caused by the vicious accumulation of domestic waste is becoming more and more serious, which has become one of the main factors restricting the construction and development of new urbanization.Getting rid of the problem of domestic garbage in the city can effectively improve the living environment in the city, and is also an important measure to implement the concept of low carbon such as saving resources and promoting waste recycling. At present, relevant departments in Nanchang are steadily promoting the implementation of policies and regulations on domestic waste classification and guiding residents to standardize their waste disposal behavior. This paper explores the factors affecting urban residents’ willingness to separate household waste and the quantitative relationship between them through questionnaire research and linear regression analysis. It is found that residents’ occupations, attitudes toward waste separation, subjective norms, perceptual behavior control,as well as government policies and social capital have a direct impact on residents’ willingness to separate waste.Based on the research results, this paper proposes policy recommendations on how to improve residents’ willingness to separate household waste, such as strengthening publicity and education, formulating scientific policies, demonstrating and guiding, fostering social capital, improving supporting facilities and strengthening market management,in order to provide reference for Nanchang to better promote the implementation of separation policies.
