The Study On The Pottery Making Of Yueshi Culture

As an important commodity in ancient times,pottery is also a neccessary medium to measure the ancient social production level and social development situation from the perspective of archaeology.The study of pottery making is the natural meaning of pottery research,which has important reference significance for the restoration of handicraft industry development at that time.In the critical period of transition from the late Neolithic Age to the early Bronze Age,it is of great value to study the pottery making technology in the period of Yueshi Culture for understanding the development level of handicraft industry and providing evidence for understanding the development of the ancient society.In addition,the previous research on the pottery making technology of Yueshi culture has always attracted less attention and needs to be enriched.Based on this,this paper is based on the Yueshi culture pottery unearthed from the Pengjiazhuang Site in Jinan,and attempts to make an in-depth discussion on its production process.Firstly,the paper introduces the background and significance of this topic as well as the general situation of Pengjiazhuang Site.Secondly,a review is made on the study of Yueshi culture and pottery technology.Finally,the research ideas and methods of this paper are clarified.Secondly,the paper makes a comprehensive analysis of the making technology of Yueshi culture pottery from four aspects:the observation of making traces,the recovery of making process,the observation of the craft of unearthed utensils and the making tools.The pottery of Yueshi culture in Peng Jiazhuang site can be divided into two categories:argillaceous pottery and sand-filled pottery,which are by taking soil from nearby site.The main forming methods include the wheel system drawing,long strips mud construction and assembly molding,using scraping and wiping equal multiple methods for dressing,in which the wheel drawing forming still occupies the mainstream position.The most developed decoration technology is plain surface polishing technology,supplemented by the use of corded pattern,concave chord pattern,convex rib pattern,additional heap pattern scratched pattern,etc.The firing are mainly done in reducing atmosphere,but the number of red,red-brown pottery compared to the previous number increased significantly.In the part of science and technology analysis,the origin and selection of experimental samples are introduced firstly.This part carries out relevant tests on the Yueshi culture pottery unearthed from Pengjiazhuang site from three aspects:the analysis of principal component,phase structure and microscopic analysis and painted pottery pigments.The chemical composition of the pottery of Yueshi culture at the site is similar.The clay belongs to common fusible clay,which is conducive to sintering.And there are different land selection points.The placenta mineral facies mainly consists of feldspar minerals such as quartz,Muscovite and albite.Quartz grains are the main parts of pitcher sand.The red pigment used in painted pottery is cinnabar.Based on the above research,a comparative study is made on the pottery making technology of Haidai Longshan culture,Erlitou culture and Erligang culture.The pottery of Yueshi culture inherits from Longshan culture in many aspects,such as shape,and craft.There is a great difference in pottery technology with Erlitou and Erligang culture.but there may be mutual influence of technical exchanges.At the end of the paper,the conclusions are summarized.
