The report of the 20 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China has incorporated cultural self-improvement into the grand blueprint for the development of excellent traditional Chinese culture.Local knowledge belongs to a type of intangible cultural heritage in the excellent traditional Chinese culture. It is a knowledge system accumulated by a specific group’s long-term social life experience in a specific regional environment, and is also a cultural symbol passed down from generation to generation. The local knowledge of fishery resource protection on Dongji Island in Zhoushan is the relevant culture and knowledge related to fishery resource protection generated by Dongji Island fishermen in their long-term fishing practices.Through field research and interviews, this paper collects and collates the local knowledge of fishery resources protection in Zhoushan polar island from the perspective of the inheritors of local knowledge of fishery resources protection in Dongji island, that is,fishermen’s dictation,to understand the social change process of fishermen in Zhoushan polar island in specific regions, and to explore the type and value of local knowledge created by fishermen in Dongji island from the traditional fishing period to the current long-term production practice,And the connection between it and the protection of marine fishery resources.Chinese scholars’ research on local knowledge is mainly focused on literature, culture, ethnology, and other aspects.Research related to marine fisheries is also mainly related to the inheritance of fishing songs and proverbs, traditional fishing production methods, and changes in the connotation of fishing culture. There is a relatively small amount of research on local knowledge related to the protection of marine fishery resources.Based on this, this article takes the local knowledge of marine fishery resource protection in Zhoushan Island as the research object, and combines the local knowledge theory of anthropologist Clifford Geertz to analyze the protection of fishery resources in Zhoushan Island.Among them, the article structure mainly consists of the following 5 parts:Chapter 1 is the introduction section. This article mainly introduces the research background, significance, and content of this article. The research methods mainly include literature analysis, field investigation, and qualitative analysis,as well as a review of relevant domestic and foreign literature;Chapter 2 is about the selection of survey locations and survey subjects.Introduced the regional overview, marine fishery resources, and resource status of the East Pole Island, and elaborated on the selection criteria for the survey object,as well as the reasons for selecting the region and the target group;Chapter 3 discusses the emergence and evolution of local knowledge on the protection of marine fishery resources in Zhoushan Island,Shandong Province.Based on the theoretical connotation of local knowledge,a field survey was conducted in the area of Zhoushan Island,Shandong Province,to explore the types of local knowledge for the protection of fishery resources in Dongji Island and classify them into the following four categories:(1)based on local knowledge in fishing production operations;(2)Based on local knowledge in the development of modern technology;(3)Based on local knowledge of fishermen’s religious beliefs;(4)Based on local knowledge from local public welfare organizations. The local knowledge of fishery resource protection on Dongji Island in Zhoushan has strong regional characteristics. In the traditional production and operation of fishermen, limited by factors such as their living conditions, production and operation levels, scientific and technological conditions, natural environmental conditions, and ideological constraints at that time, the traditional fishing and production methods of fishermen mainly relying on livelihood fisheries have reached a balance with marine fishery resources in a specific traditional period;Chapter 4 discusses the value and inheritance of local knowledge on the protection of marine fishery resources in Zhoushan Island,Shandong Province. The historical development trajectory and social changes of Dongji Island fishermen during a specific period have gradually formed local knowledge of fishery resource protection, reflecting the unique cultural characteristics of Zhoushan Dongji fishermen in terms of production, life, customs, thinking patterns, etc.,which are different from other regions. They have high cultural value, belief value, policy value, and educational value.Attention should be paid to the exploration of local knowledge related to the protection of fishery resources in the past, present, and future in the East Pole Island,as well as the care for the inheritors of local knowledge. This will help provide new ideas for the protection of marine fishery resources and research related to fishing culture, provide new perspectives for the formulation and improvement of fishery management policies and systems, and also promote regional and ethnic cultures Marine culture and even excellent traditional Chinese culture are developing towards diversification;Chapter 5 is the conclusion and outlook. This section is a summary of the research, summarizing the shortcomings of this article, and providing prospects for future research on local knowledge related to fisheries and fishing culture.
