Habitat loss and fragmentation are the main causes of species extinction, and one of the most effective ways to protect wildlife is to protect their habitat. The species distribution model predicts the potential habitat of species based on species distribution data and environmental data and provides scientific support for habitat protection of wild animals.Species distribution models can be divided into three categories, which only require a species occurrence data model,a species occurrence point and(pseudo)missing point comparison model, and a species occurrence frequency(density)comparison model.Among them, the model built based on species frequency(density)data can better depict the relationship between animals and the environment. However, species frequency data requires high-intensity field surveys, and data acquisition is difficult,so such methods are not widely used. This study, based on 0.6m resolution high-resolution images,30 m resolution Landsat-8images,and 90 m resolution topographic data(SRTM)environmental data, combined with monkey monitoring data from Lasha Mountain,Lanping County,Yunnan Province from August 2008 to July 2009,the habitat distribution model of black and white snub-nosed monkeys was constructed, and the habitat distribution model of black and white snub-nosed monkeys was constructed using February 2012-January 2013,September 2015-August 2016,Monkey population monitoring data from November 2018 to October 2019,calculated Boyce index evaluation model. The results show that the habitat model constructed based on eight sets of environmental data predicts similar spatial distribution patterns of habitats and has high accuracy(the Boyce index is greater than 0.9 for the data of the first two test periods).Among the eight models, the model with Landsat images 1-9 band and slope combination as environmental data had the highest accuracy, with Boyce indices of 0.992(2012-2013),0.995(2015-2016),and 0.853(2018-2019),respectively.In this study,a model based on Lassa Mountain monitoring data will be used to predict the habitat distribution of the southern population of the black and white snuff-nosed monkeys. The distribution range of 5 monkey groups outlined by field researchers was used as a 1km buffer zone to compare the habitat quality between the distribution range of monkey groups and the buffer zone to evaluate the results of the model. The results of the model show that most of the areas with high and continuous habitat quality are located in the Yunling Nature Reserve and Yunlong Tianchi National Reserve, but there are still some areas with high habitat quality and large areas that are not included in the reserve. The distribution ranges of the five populations in the southern region are super placed into the habitat quality map.Habitat quality was generally high across the five populations. The evaluation results showed that the average habitat quality within the distribution range of the five monkey groups was higher than that outside the buffer zone, which confirmed that the model effectively predicted the habitat distribution of the monkey groups in the southern region. Finally, the following suggestions are made for habitat planning and conservation of the southern population:(1)to protect the existing habitats, especially the existing distribution areas of the monkey population;(2)Expand the scope of the current two nature reserves to include more continuous and high-quality habitats in the reserves.(3)Relying on the existing niche patches, attempts were made to restore corridors among monkey groups to promote communication among them. |
