| South China Karst have unique aesthetic and tourism values,and the International Union for Conservation of Nature(IUCN)clearly proposes to sustainable conservation management system for the outstanding universal value(OUV)of heritage.The World Heritage Committee stressed that "tourism is both an opportunity and a challenge for World Heritage".The protection of aesthetic values and the coordinated development of tourism are important ways to realize the sustainable development of heritage sites,which is of great significance for the protection and display of OUV of natural World Heritage sites(WNHSs),and the coordination of regional economic development and ecological environmental protection of heritage sites.According to the theories of environmental integrity such as geography,ecology and landscape architecture,the theory of human-land relationship,landscape ecology and sustainable development theory,aesthetics and other theories,in view of the scientific issues related to the coordination between aesthetic value protection and tourism development of World Heritage karst sites(WHKSs),such as unclear identification of representational elements of aesthetic value,unclear objectives of aesthetic value protection,insufficient tourism display,unclear boundary between protection and tourism,and difficulty in synergy between aesthetic value protection and tourism development.The Shibing dolomite karst and Libo-Huanjiang limestone karst,which represent the difference between the protection and tourism development of the aesthetic value of South China Karst,were selected as the research areas,and from 2020 to 2023,through field investigation,questionnaire survey and analysis,sampling analysis and testing of plants,water and soil,remote sensing image interpretation and data collection,and using image analysis method,content analysis method,comprehensive analysis method and other methods to identify.The characteristics and interference elements of the aesthetic value of the WHKSs were extracted,and the aesthetic value system was constructed based on the identification of aesthetic value elements,the boundary between protection and tourism utilization was clarified,and different synergistic strategies of aesthetic value protection and tourism development of the WHKSs were proposed,which provided scientific reference for the quantitative evaluation of the aesthetic value and the sustainable tourism development of heritage sites.1.The characteristic elements and interference elements of the aesthetic value of WHKSs are clarified,and the importance of quantitative description of the aesthetic value of heritage sites to tourism development is revealed,which is the prerequisite for the coordinated of protection and tourism development.The characteristic elements of the Shibing and Libo-Huanjiang Karst are mainly the list of value properties in the inscription text,and tourism activities have little interference with the aesthetic value carrier and its integrity of the site.Through comprehensive analysis,it is found that the premise of the protection of the aesthetic value of the heritage site is to clarify the connotation and carrier of its value,and extract,summarize and analyze the characteristics of its aesthetic value and the interference factors,on this basis,an effective and reasonable development strategy can be proposed for the protection of the aesthetic value and tourism development of WNHSs.The identification of elements is conducive to the display and protection of the aesthetic value of the Shibing and Libo-Huanjiang Karst,and is of great significance for promoting regional economic development and ecological environmental protection.2.Based on the identification and extraction of aesthetic value representation elements and interference elements,the aesthetic value system of WHKSs was constructed,the scope of protection and tourism of the aesthetic value was clarified,and corresponding conservation and utilization strategies were proposed.Constructing a protection system for the aesthetic value of WHKSs,clarifying the scope of protection and utilization is the basis for the tourism display scope and content of the site,and proposing corresponding utilization strategies is the premise of aesthetic value protection and tourism synergy.Special forest ecosystems and unique hydrogeological binary structures constitute the background value of aesthetic value.Among them,the value carriers located in the restricted areas of heritage sites should be strictly prohibited from being developed.The value carrier located in the exhibition area can be scientifically displayed and utilized.Potential derivative value such as superior ecological environment,colorful national customs,pleasant climate,and special meteorological landscapes should be vigorously developed and utilized.The system construction,protection and definition of tourism scope based on aesthetic value identification provide an important basis for the sustainable development of heritage sites,and deepen the theoretical research on the synergy between heritage protection and tourism development.3.A collaborative design and framework for the protection and tourism development of aesthetic value are constructed,which takes the identification and extraction of the representation elements of aesthetic value and the interference elements as the precondition,value cognition as the basis of synergy,sustainable tourism development as the synergistic concept,planning and design as the collaborative path,and a sound protection management and monitoring system as the collaborative guarantee.It is revealed that the key to the synergy between the protection of the aesthetic value of heritage sites lies in the perception and understanding of value by stakeholders.It is necessary to propose a synergistic design and strategy around value conservation,presentation,communication and experience,and to provide a basis and concrete implementable plan for the value conservation in order to achieve sustainable development of heritage site.
