Diamond is a scarce mineral with high economic value.L Company is a geological exploration company dominated by diamond prospecting.With China’s investment in mineral exploration tends to be cautious in recent years,the company’s traditional extensive project management mode seriously restricts the implementation of diamond prospecting projects under the limited funds.In 2019,L company undertook and implemented Diamond Prospecting Project in County A.However,due to problems in schedule management,the project was finally completed four months late.In order to improve the ability of schedule management and ensure that similar projects can be completed on time in the future,L Company urgently needs to study the problems exposed in the past projects so as to summarize the experience and lessons.This study took the Diamond Prospecting Project in County A of L Company as the research object,analyzed the problems related to schedule management in the project through the theoretical study of schedule management and the practical investigation of the company and the project,and proposed solutions or suggestions for similar problems and corresponding safeguard measures.First of all,through sorting out the implementation process of the project,combining the fishbone diagram and the 80-20 rule,four major problems of the project were identified,which included shirking responsibility between personnel,time conflict between tasks,inaccurate estimate of the project period,and interference of the original deployment by unexpected factors.Secondly,the problems were analyzed and the main reasons were found out,which were unclear responsibility division,unreasonable task arrangement,insufficient schedule estimation basis and inadequate schedule risk management.Thirdly,the WBS work structure of the project was decomposed,and the responsibility distribution table was prepared.The tasks were logically sorted out and a network plan diagram was drawn.The project period was re-estimated by planning review techniques.The risk sources affecting the schedule were identified and evaluated,and countermeasures were formulated.Through the above four measures,this thesis put forward some suggestions or solutions for similar problems in the future.Finally,safeguard measures were formulated from the following four aspects:implementing the responsibility system,strengthening progress control,perfecting the details of the system and enhancing risk awareness,so as to ensure that the solution can be implemented.By studying the schedule management problems in Diamond Prospecting Project in County A,it can provide guidance and reference for the schedule management of similar projects of L company in the future,so as to reduce or avoid the case that the project cannot be completed on time due to the same problems.
