County Division Of Natural Recreation Resources In Hunan Province Based On ROS

The Recreation Opportunity Spectrum(ROS)is one of the most effective tools for the compilation and analysis of outdoor recreation resources utilization list.The method was officially issued by the National Forest Administration in 1982 and revised in 2003 based on the actual situation of New England.According to the three principles of physical environment,social environment and management environment,the revised ROS guide divides outdoor recreation resources into six grades:primitive,semi primitive nonmotorized,semi primitive motorized,semi developed natural,developed natural and highly developed.The highly developed areas are further subdivided into large natural,small natural and facilities.In order to explore the localized application of ROS in China,establish the physical and social environmental criteria for compiling ROS,and realize the integrated utilization of natural recreational resources in Hunan Province,comparing the data of geography between New England and Hunan Province,the paper determined the ROS physical environment criterion and social environment criterion applicable to China.The road network,area and night lighting data were taken as the ROS physical environment criterion,geographic information POI data as social environmental standards,and management environmental standards are mainly land ownership characteristics in the United States,and China is mainly the requirements of natural protection land control.Because the natural reserves in China are in the optimal integration stage,it is difficult to obtain accurate vector boundary and control division of protected areas,so this study had not been considered.The results are as follows:(1)The cretiria for division the Recreation Opportunity Spectrum of Hunan Province is determined:the remoteness and size of area in the physical environment refer to the ROS use guide standard of New England in 2003,and creatively use the night light data to represent the signs of human in the physical environment,and the geographic information POI data to represent the user density in the social environment.(2)The Recreation Opportunity Spectrum of Hunan Province is constructed based on Arc GIS.The results of Recreation Opportunity Spectrum in Hunan Province show that the primitive accounts for 2.51%of the province’s area,t semi-primitive nonmotorized accounts for 21.33%of the province’s area,the semi-primitive motorized and semideveloped natural account for the largest proportion of the province’s area,38.60%and 30.99%respectively,and the developed natural area accounts for 5.61%of the province’s area;Highly developed regions account for 0.96%of the province’s area,of which large natural regions account for 65.63%of the highly developed regions,small natural regions account for 27.95%of the highly developed regions,and facilities accounts for 6.42%of the highly developed regions.(3)The standard of natural recreation resource counties(cities and districts)in Hunan Province is determined and divided.The introduction of factor dominance indicates the degree controlled by such ROS elements,defines the concept of natural recreation resource county(city,district),and uses factor dominance to analyze 122 counties(city,district)in Hunan Province,including key metropolitan counties(city,district),general metropolitan counties(city,district),rural counties(city,district),general natural recreation resource counties(cities and districts)and key natural recreation resource counties(cities and districts).The number of counties(cities and districts)divided into five levels is 8,21,50,24 and 19 in turn.
