The Female Reproductive System Of The Butterfly Tribe Pierini From China(Lepidoptera:Pieridae:Pierinae)

The female reproductive system of the butterfly tribe Pierini from China was studied in this thesis,which includes the present research both domestic and abroad,the current situation of entomomic female reproductive systems,and morphological descriptions of female reproductive systems of Pierini.The differences in reproductive system among genera and species were compared.Finally,the morphological characters for taxonomy and phylogeny were discussed.Now the morphological study about female reproductive system of Pierini is so limited that it does not support species identification and phylogeny.In this thesis,6 genera,12 species are described in this thesis.Further study is needed to summarize the morphology of the female reproductive system of this subfamily for phylogeny.Conclusions are as follows:1.The female reproductive system of Pierini includes internal reproductive organs and female genitalia,and the size and shape of the female reproductive system is related to the development of adult female.The female genitalia include:corpus bursae and associated parts,ductus seminalis,apophyses,sterigma and papillae anales.The internal reproductive organ is composed of ovaries,lateral oviducts,a common oviduct,spermatheca,accessory glands and genital chamber.2.The ovary is unsymmetrical:one side 4 ovarioles jointed directly,another side,the two adjacent ovarioles linked separately,and these two connect with the lateral oviduct.At present,there are no similar reports in the Lepidoptera,the stability and the applicative value of this characteristic remains to be further study.3.It was an obvious in the difference of female genitalia among genera and species.The mainly showed on the former is the shape of ductus bursae,sterigma and valvula,the inserted position of ductus seminalis,the shape and position of apophyses.However,the latter is the shape of corpus bursae with accessory structure and ductus seminalis.4.There is a difference of internal reproductive organs among genera and species in some genera.This mainly shows in shape and the inserted position of primary spermatheca,accessory spermatheca,ductus of spermatheca and ductus of accessory gland,the shape and the furcation position of spermathecal gland and accessory gland.However,the latter is based on the shape of eggs.
