The morphology, geography, taxonomy and phylogeny of the butterfly tribe Pierini of Pierinae from China were reviewed and summarized in the present thesis. which includes the history, the present resume both domestic and abroad, the classification character, geographic distribution and phylogeny. as well as male and female genitalia of the tribe were illustrated and photographed. The morphologic terminology conforms the“Monographia Rhopalocerum Sinensium”(Chou, 1998). All the tag specimens were identified by routine methods. they were. Photographs were made using a Motic-700L microscope with a Q-image CCD. Images were produced using the software Synoptic Automontage. There are 39 genera 979 species in the word, which mainly distributed in Neotropical Region, Oriental Region and Nearctic Region. 12 genera, 53 species were described in this thesis , including 1 new synonyms: Cepora wui Chou and Zhang, 2001 (= Delias levicki Rothschild, 1927) and 1 new subspecies: Ixias pyrene latifasciata Butler, 1871. Illustrations including 53 male genitalia and distribution, 28 female genitalia, 12 genus veins are provided. The geographical distribution of 12 genus is analyzed. Huanan area is the most widely distributed which including 9 genus, 75% of the total. Next are Southwest and Huazhong area, they are all 8 genera, 66.7%. Characterized Genus of China is Mesapia. The species are mostly distributed in Southwest, about 60.71%, and then Huanan area. In the northwest, neither genara nor species are the fewest (25% and 9.25% of sum respectively). The phylogeny in 12 genera of Pierini is analysed. basing on the principles and methods of cladistics using Paup 4.0 beta 10 and Treeview 1.6.6 in the thesis. The results as follow:(1) Pierini is monophyletic group. Mesapia and Baltia, Ixias and Prioneris, Aporia and Delias are sister groups.(2) The systematic position of Leptosia is discussed and owed to Pierini.(3) Pierini system of Three subtribes is not be supported. The checklist of Pierini, index of Chinese name and scientific name were attached . All the specimens examined were deposited in the Entomological Museum of Northwest A & F University(NWSUAF) and Yangtze University.
