Research On The Intermediary Function Of National Comprehensive Archives

In the context of the reform of local archival institutions,exploring new concepts of archival function construction is something that should be done to promote archives to give full play to their professional advantages and improve their management level and service capacity in the new era.Archives are a social mechanism designed to organize,control,maintain and develop archival information exchange activities.As the degree of information openness and the efficiency of information exchange and dissemination continue to increase,it is more important to understand the functions of archives with a contemporary,open and holistic perspective.In the face of the differences in understanding of this issue in academic circles,examining the value and functions of archives in the broader context of the information society should and will certainly play a positive role in archival work,thus providing more theoretical support and practical directions for archives to go public.Based on the needs of the times of archives transformation,we insist on combining history and reality,unifying theory and practice,grasping the general requirement of connecting the formation and utilization ends of archives,highlighting the unique position of archives in the whole process of archival information flow,and proposing a new way of understanding the function of archives,that is,archives are the "intermediary" existence in the process of ensuring the transfer of archival information from the source to the user.The new idea reflects the social meaning and operating principle of the existence of archives,and is also more essential and holistic.Specifically,the article is divided into four parts: first,it analyzes the necessity and significance of understanding the function of archives in terms of "intermediary" from the perspective of the difference in the understanding of the function of archives,and examines the historical development of the intermediary function of archives and related discussions respectively.Secondly,the theoretical connotation of the intermediary function of archives is discussed in three aspects: the intermediary nature of archives,the meaning and characteristics of the intermediary function.Third,a practical perspective on the process and factors influencing the realization of the intermediary function of archives in the context of their operational work.Finally,based on theory and practice,a methodological reflection is launched,focusing on the information era,and a realization path is envisioned in three stages:intermediary preparation,intermediary implementation and intermediary feedback.
