The archives intermediary service organization is a new type of archives service organization which rises with the development of market economy in China.Since1992,Zhejiang Province took the lead in setting up the archives intermediary service organization in China,the archives intermediary service market in China has flourished.After nearly 30 years’ development,the number of intermediary service agencies of archives service is increasing,and the service content is rich,which effectively promotes the prosperity and development of China’s archives cause,but there are also mixed phenomena.In order to promote the healthy and sustainable development of archives intermediary service institutions,this paper takes Hunan Province as an example to study the development of archives intermediary service institutions,which is of great significance.Taking Hunan Province as a sample,the author investigates the archives intermediary service market by means of website research and telephone interview,analyzes the main service items,registration status and personnel scale of archives intermediary service institutions in Hunan Province,and then selects 10 representative institutions for statistical analysis from four aspects: institution scale,service items,qualifications,intellectual property rights and research and development.Then it sorts out the achievements and problems in the development of archives intermediary service institutions,including the richness of service items,information degree,national and local legislation,technology research and development,employees,top-level design,industry standards and so on.Based on the results of investigation and analysis,combined with the development needs of the industry,this paper puts forward six suggestions for improvement: first,expand the business field and innovate the service content;The second is to strengthen technology research and development and accelerate the pace of informationization;The third is to improve the training system and improve personnel literacy;Fourth,it is necessary to strictly control the quality of qualifications and unify industry standards;The fifth is to improve laws and regulations and provide legal protection;Sixth,set up trade associations and carry out information exchange.
