As a very important cultural phenomenon in the development of Chinese Internet,the “Internetcelebrity” discourse shows an unprecedented “generalization” phenomenon in the current era.The generalization of the word “Internet-celebrity” is different from the generalization of popular words.It is not only a hot word in the linguistic sense,but also a discourse practice in the sense of social construction.This paper presents and analyzes the value change,the expansion on the characteristic of word and semantic change of “Internet-celebrity” in news texts at the linguistic level.On this basis,it examines the cultural practice of “Internet-celebrity” as a discourse in contemporary Chinese social and cultural scenes,and considers how “Internet-celebrity” becomes the label of various characters and things.At the level of “Internet-celebrity” becoming a character identity,commercial Internet celebrities get rid of the original facial stereotype,and the “Internet-celebrity” label is applied to more “faces”;based on the importance of Internet public opinion,“political Internet celebrities”emerge in Chinese Internet world through the employing and calling by the mainstream ideology;in addition,“Internet-celebrity” not only represents the opportunities to success for grassroots figures in the digital age,but also reflects the new form of idol worship in contemporary cultural conditions.At the level of “Internet-celebrity” becoming a commercial symbol,the reason why “Internet-celebrity”symbol is repeatedly used is related to the use of cultural capital in contemporary economy.From the symbolic characteristics in cultural and creative industries,the production and consumption of“Internet-celebrity” space to the birth of “Internet-celebrity” city,the discourse practice of “Internetcelebrity” reflects the construction effect of discourse on society and its permeation into our daily life.Finally,the paper analyzes the reasons for the generalization of “Internet-celebrity” discourse from four aspects of society,economy,politics and culture,and points out that netizens,flowing,public opinion and culture are the main factors contributing to the generalization of “Internet-celebrity”discourse.The generalization of “Internet-celebrity” discourse seems like an accidental phenomenon during the development of Chinese Internet and social change,but in fact it reflects the social change of contemporary China in recent years to some extent.
