News Discourse Analysis Of Hospice Care News Reports In Paper Media From The Perspective Of Health Communication

Peter Piot,the global president of the United Nations AIDS agency,has said that "journalists can save more lives than doctors",because the public's awareness of hospice care can be influenced by the way of the news media reports and what they report.At present,in the face of China's increasingly serious aging situation,how should the news media report on the issue of hospice care,how to effectively improve the public's awareness of hospice care and acceptance of hospice care services through the health communication of the news media,which are important problems that many media are facing.This study,from the perspective of health communication,based on text analysis,combined with Norman Fairclough's critical discourse analysis theory,takes all the news reports related to "hospice care" in domestic newspapers from 1988 to 2020 as the research object,and makes an overall content analysis of 1725 reports over the past 33 years.The main body of this paper is divided into five parts: the development history of hospice care and the change of hospice care news reports,the text analysis of hospice care news reports,the discourse practice analysis of hospice care news reports,the social and cultural practice analysis of hospice care news reports,and the discourse formation reasons of hospice care news reports.It mainly focuses on the historical changes of hospice care news reports,the news discourse generation process of hospice care news reports,the news discourse consumption and practice process of hospice care news reports,the news discourse types of hospice care news reports,and the reasons behind the formation of news discourse system of hospice care news reports.In terms of the historical development of hospice care and the changes of hospice care news reports,according to the landmark events and important turning events in the historical development of hospice care,it can be divided into three historical stages:from 1988 to 2000,the embryonic stage: the exploration and research of hospice care concept;from 2001 to 2010,the establishment stage: the practical exploration of hospice care service;from 2011 to 2020,the development stage: the characteristic construction of hospice care system.Finally,the researcher makes a discourse analysis of the hospice care news reports in each historical stage.At the level of text analysis,this paper makes an overall analysis on the number,length,theme,tendency,genre and source of hospice care news reports;At the discourse practice analysis level,through the extensive theme,intertextuality and timeliness of hospice care news reports,the discourse generation process of hospice care news reports is deeply studied and analyzed,which shows the diversity of news discourse choice;At the level of social and cultural practice analysis,through the research and analysis of the authoritative trend of power discourse,the present situation and predicament of economic discourse,the rational expression of expert discourse,and the empathy of humanistic discourse,it reflects that the news media have formed four different discourse genres with their own characteristics when reporting hospice care issues;At the level of discourse formation reasons,this paper analyzes the political background,economic background and cultural background behind the news discourse.
