Research On Visual Narrative Of Short Video News In Xinhua News Agency’s "Media Brain"

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China recently issued the "Recommendations of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on Formulating the Fourteenth Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development and Long-Term Goals for 2035".A batch of forward-looking and strategic national major scientific and technological projects,among which artificial intelligence has become the highest priority.Now that artificial intelligence technology has fully penetrated the early news industry,visual narratives have seen unprecedented development.Xinhua News Agency’s "Media Brain" is a product of the combination of artificial intelligence and journalism.As the first artificial intelligence media platform in China,the "Media Brain" allows news reporting to enter a new field while enabling the rapid development of visual narrative.The short news videos produced by the "Media Brain" of Xinhua News Agency have made remarkable development achievements.Exploring the characteristics of visual narratives can not only enrich the theoretical significance of visual narratives,but also provide research directions for the development of artificial intelligence and media integration.Therefore,this research draws on and follows the narrative research path,based on the research framework formed by James Phelan’s narrative concept.The four different perspectives of narrator,narrative perspective,narrative structure,and narrative discourse are used to analyze news stories in the artificial intelligence environment.The visual narrative of the video is studied and discussed in depth.In the environment of artificial intelligence,the visual narration of news short videos has become a continuous development process due to internal and external factors.From the perspective of external factors,the "second turn" of visual culture makes all kinds of images in the lives of resource humans visible everywhere.While artificial intelligence technology is booming,news production processes and concepts have been completely different from the past,which has also shaped a new form of news short video visual narrative.At the same time,the prosperity of visual culture,the innovation of digital technology,the instinctive needs of the audience’s senses,and the changes in aesthetic taste have all given the visual narrative of news short videos a powerful boost.From the perspective of internal factors,Xinhua News Agency’s media brain is constantly improving,enriching visual narrative methods through its own changes.At the same time,Xinhua News Agency’s short news videos focus on deepening the connotation of the content and gradually expand the scope of reporting.They have their own unique style,giving countless possibilities for the development of narratives.The short news videos produced by the media brain have distinctive visual narratives.The author believes that the real narrator is a man-machine complex,starting from the "omniscience" zero-degree perspective and the third perspective,forming a brand-new narrative effect.Through the representation of meaning,interaction meaning and composition meaning,a multi-modal discourse form with visual discourse as the core is displayed,and a unique visual language meaning expression mechanism of the robot is constructed.Through the narrative form of dynamic images,the spatial narrative of two-dimensional images is brought into the category of time to realize the unity of time and space.The vertical dimension of the narrative space is displayed through the topographical space and the space-time body space,enhancing the expressive power of the visual narrative structure.The logical difference between the short video produced by the media brain and traditional news writing is that in traditional news,reporters determine the news narrative structure through news event materials,while the media brain collects materials through the narrative structure.This has also led to the media brain becoming a unique narrative as well as a narrator,and its dual identity also brings many problems and challenges to visual narration.
