With the improvement of the level of economic development and the deepening of social change, corporate social responsibility(CSR)is increasingly valued by local governments and capital markets around the world. With the popularization of mobile devices and the improvement of Internet infrastructure, emerging information technologies such as 5g and AI are constantly evolving. On the platform of new technology, the integration of traditional media and emerging media is deeper and deeper, promoting the profound innovation of media pattern and public opinion ecology. The state-owned enterprises play an exemplary role in fulfilling social responsibility and bear huge pressure of social responsibility. However, the related media reports are lacking and the quality needs to be improved. At the same time, there are still controversies about the relationship between CSR and enterprise performance: on the one hand, the negative correlation reveals that enterprises lack consciousness and long-term concept in fulfilling their social responsibility, and are easy to make decisions and activities that have uncertain impact on social and economic development and have negative impact; On the other hand, there is a contradiction between theory and practice in the positive correlation, because there are still many enterprises in reality to evade corporate social responsibility. This paper mainly through the "theoretical basis-research hypothesis and experimental design-Empirical Research-policy recommendations" research ideas and analysis framework. On the basis of extensive reading of relevant literature at home and abroad, this paper studies the relevant theories of corporate social responsibility.Based on the differences of social and economic environment and media industry at home and abroad,it aims to explore the relationship between corporate social responsibility and corporate performance, and how network media reports play a regulatory role between them. Finally, the threshold model is used for supplementary analysis.Specifically, based on the sample data of A-share state-owned listed companies from 2011 to 2018,this paper uses fixed effect regression to test three hypotheses:(1)the social responsibility of state-owned enterprises has a positive U-shaped impact on corporate performance.(2)Network media reports have a positive effect on the social responsibility of state-owned enterprises. The higher the intensity of network media reports on the social responsibility of sample enterprises, the better the performance of corporate social responsibility.(3)Other conditions remain unchanged, network media reports will weaken(strengthen)the relationship between social responsibility and corporate performance of state-owned enterprises. The results show that there is a non-linear relationship between state-owned enterprises’ CSR and corporate performance, which will have a negative impact on corporate performance at a lower level of CSR,and a positive impact on corporate performance at a higher level, and there is a low value trap area; The network media reports only related to corporate social responsibility will promote the level of corporate social responsibility in the current period, and weaken the positive "U" relationship between corporate social responsibility and corporate performance. This paper explains the paradox between the existing theory and reality, provides effective guidance for state-owned enterprises how to use network media reports to improve enterprise performance, and provides guidance for the development of private enterprises’ corporate social responsibility.
