With the continuous growth of social informatization and communication volume, optical communication systems are developing in the direction of increasing transmission capacity and increasing transmission distance. In the communication system, the loss, dispersion and nonlinear effects produced by the optical fiber are the main reasons that limit the performance of the optical transmission system. When Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier(EDFA)is widely used in transmission systems, the loss of optical fiber is effectively suppressed. However,as the demand for optical communication continues to increase, the requirements for the number of channels, transmission distance and transmission capacity of the system have increased, and the dispersion and nonlinear effects of optical fibers have seriously affected the communication quality of the system. Therefore, the study of dispersion compensation and nonlinear effect suppression in optical transmission systems has great practical significance for improving the performance of the system.Among them,in the wavelength division multiplexing(WDM)system, when the spacing of the channels becomes smaller and smaller, the four-wave mixing(FWM)effect becomes more and more obvious, which has become the main reason that affects the communication quality of the WDM system. Therefore, research on suppressing the FWM effect has important practical significance for improving the performance of the optical transmission system. This article first describes the advantages of the WDM system and the main factors currently limited, and explains the significance of studying dispersion compensation and suppressing the four-wave mixing effect in the WDM optical fiber transmission system. At the same time,a theoretical analysis of the suppression scheme of the FWM effect is carried out,and an in-depth study is made on the method of adjusting the channel spacing and dispersion management. The FWM effect is suppressed by adopting several schemes of adjusting the channel spacing, and the dispersion compensation fiber(DCF)is added to compensate for the dispersion of the system, thereby increasing the transmission capacity of the system.Adopting the dispersion management scheme can not only compensate the system dispersion, but also suppress the FWM effect by controlling the amount of dispersion in the transmission link, thereby effectively improving the system performance. The above schemes are simulated in an8-channel wavelength division multiplexing system, and the channel spacing adjustment scheme and dispersion management scheme in the system are studied, and they are analyzed and optimized. The simulation results show that the above schemes can better improve the performance of the system.
