Research On Operation Strategy Of Data Journal Publishing Organization

The in-depth development trend of open science and data-driven scientific research paradigm is changing the overall environment of academic communication,affecting the exchange,production of scientific research knowledge and academic publishing methods.Under this trend,in academic publishing field,the exploration of data publishing is becoming more diverse.In order to adapt to the in-depth development of data publishing,the new publication type of data papers and data journals has been maturing.The development of data journals is currently in its infancy,and there are still problems such as insufficient cognition,fuzzy concepts,and less concert practice.Whether data papers are phased products and whether they can solve the inherent problems in data publishing practice remains to be verified.How journals should explore sustainable development models and obtain good economic,academic and social benefits are also the primary challenges in the development of current data journals.First of all,based on the in-depth understanding of data journal publishing,this research clarifies the subject/object,publishing mode,related stakeholders,functions and positioning of data journal publishing in the scientific research data sharing environment from a theoretical level,and explores the background of scientific research data sharing,the function and positioning of data publishing,the advantages and characteristics of data papers and data journal publishing mode compared with other data publishing modes,and the role and positioning of publishing institutions.Based on discussion of the essential characteristics of data journal publishing,exploring the direction of data journals operation.Secondly,this research is based on the understanding of the core characteristics of data journal publishing to investigate the current status of data journal operations.Based on the current list of data journals,the research selects 4 publication institutions and 12 data journals which is successful and mature in operation,summarizing the publishing status of data journals under the publishing organization.The survey samples include the Chinese Academy of Sciences,Spring Nature,Ubiquity Press,Pensoft and their 12 data journals.Introduce and analyze the subject areas,submission methods,data storage,peer review,publishing content,content specifications,intellectual property rights,publishing costs,website services and other elements,and summarize the operational service characteristics of the four major publishing institutions.Finally,this article is based on the analysis of trends in the field of platform-based,service-based,socialized,and tool-based scientific research data publishing,and proposes that current data journal publishing institutions should focus on online publishing platform construction,knowledge service upgrades,research social function provision,scientific research and publishing tools development.In addition,based on the operating experience of data journals,open access journals and traditional science and technology journals,this article summarizes the six funding sources of data journal publishing institutions.Finally,based on scientific research data lifecycle theory,knowledge service theory and double-effect theory,this paper divides the scientific research data publishing process into five stages: data collection,data review,data preservation,data sharing,and data utilization,formulating publishing organization operating strategies from the perspective of publishing process optimization and service upgrade.
