In the current background of our country,science popularization has a particularly far-reaching significance.With the development of media technology,short videos have become a new way of popularizing science.It broadens the channels of popular science dissemination,enriching the contents,innovating the forms and building a new trend.This article takes the Tik Tok official account of Institute of Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences(Io P,CAS)as the research object and selects the short science videos released on the platform from August 15,2018 to March 31,2020 as the research sample,based on Brian Wynne's "reflexivity model".Methods such as content and text analysis,interviews and questionnaire surveys are used to examine the reflexivity characteristics of current science popularization by short videos.Through the research on the short science videos released by Io P,CAS,we found that the video authors have demonstrated reflexivity in terms of their internal position,contents and forms of dissemination.The audience shows reflexivity characteristics at the attitude and behavioral levels.The private and public communications between authors and audience also exhibit reflexivity characteristics to some degree.The emergence and development of reflexivity is closely related to the current social progress and development of science popularization and media technology.We have also found that although the current science popularization by short video shows a certain degree of reflexivity between authors and audience,there are still deficiencies that need to be improved to further promote the continuous development of science popularization.This article is divided into six chapters.The first chapter introduces the development process of science popularization and thereafter focuses on the short video communication of science popularization in mobile Internet era.Chapters two to four analyze the reflexivity characteristics of science popularization in short videos.Based on Brian Wynne's "reflexivity model",the implicit relation of reflexivity between the author and audience is explicitly presented through actual short video texts and interview survey data.Chapter five analyzes reasons for the emergence and existence of reflexivity characteristics of the current science popularization short videos,from perspectives of changes in the social environment,development of popular science dissemination,and the advancement of media technology.The sixth chapter reflects on the deficiencies of reflexivity in the dissemination of science popularization short video and proposes feasible suggestions for improvement of reflexivity of various participating subjects,so as to promote the advancement of science dissemination.
