In the PCB (Printed Circuit Board) Assembly and manufacture industry, Manual Vision Inspection (MVI) is not yet satisfies the quest, Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) systems are more and more used in the PCB (Printed Circuit Board) Assembly field for inspecting the PCB assembling quality.Automated Optical Inspection systems integrated performance of camera, lighting system design and vision algorithms to meet the quality control requirements. In Surface Mount Technology (SMT) production line, Automated Optical Inspection systems use charge-coupled device (CCD) cameras to acquire images of the circuit board, and the images are analyzed to determine whether there are any defects in each area of the board. Automated Optical Inspection systems can identify process problems resulting in missing and misplaced components.On-line AOI's image acquires system mainly include two kinds of method: Stop-and-Go and Read-on-the-fly. They are each to have advantage and disadvantage, and the first method is most used. But Read-on-the-fly has obvious advantage on the inspect speed. The system is mainly include several hardware: Cognex○R MVS-8500 series image card and Sony○R HR-70 series CCD camera; Advantech○R PCI-1751 io card and PCI-1784 counter card; Yamaha○R DRCX series robot controller.Software based on Microsoft .net platform, used C# to develop. Some image process used VisionPro's library. Experiment proved that, all the function is done in the rough.
