A Cross-Media Narrative Study Of "The Master Of Magic"

Under the deep integration of the media,the mobility of information has been unprecedentedly amplified.The same event can be widely consulted and shared on various media platforms in different forms.Due to its large fans,IP novels shows great economic value in transmedia storytelling.Most of the TV dramas shown in recent years are adapted from popular online novels,such as the legend of Empresses in the Palace and Nirvana in Fire.The mature pan-entertainment industry and China's broad audience provide sufficient space for the story.This paper takes the typical case The Founder of Diabolism to analyze how to carry out transmedia storytelling in the process of digging IP value.This paper combines the theory of transmedia storytelling with IP operation model to analyzes The Founder of Diabolism by using three research methods: case analysis,text analysis and internet ethnography.This paper innovatively combines cross-media narrative with IP operation strategy,and brings the audience into the main category of narrative.Through a large number of text analysis and comparison,it tries to build a dynamic non-closed cross-media narrative ecology.Firstly,this paper introduces the social background and narrative characteristics of the novel,and analyzes its advantages of transmedia storytelling.Secondly,according to the ways of IP operation model,we can analyze that how the narrators spread this story through omnimedia.Accumulate audience and lead them migrate to other platforms.They spread fragments of this story to audience through social media.The final goal is to tell this story to foreigners with different culture background.Then,this paper studies the participation of audience,the story consumer and narrator.It studies participation process,participation platform,fanfiction and effect.Finally,through the analysis of the whole case,it is concluded that consistency of narrative subject,coherence of narrative time and audience participation are important for transmedia storytelling.However,there are also vicious interaction,circle barriers and other subtractive narrative effects.
