Phased array antennas are widely used in military radar and commercial communication.With the increasing demand for the device beam coverage of phased array antenna,a deal of research has been carried out by experts and scholars.In this paper,the methods and ideas of expanding the scanning range of phased array antennas at home and abroad are summarized,and four ultra-wide Angle scanning phased array antennas are designed.1.A one-dimensional phased array antenna is designed.Principle of the design is based on aerial image in the magnetic flow parallel to the electrical wall antenna beam width is wide,the unit of the beam width to achieve the half power beam width,nearly 160°.18 units of the linear array to achieve the E-plane±80° beam coverage,the biggest gain by less than 3 dB.2.A long slot array antenna loaded with metamaterials is designed.The antenna element is a long slot array element,and an innovative parasitic slot structure is proposed.Eight metamaterial layers are designed as the wide Angle matching layer to realize the gradual transition of impedance from antenna aperture surface to free space.The results show that the antenna can achieve the beam coverage of E-plane ±800 and surface H-plane ±60°,and the impedance bandwidth reaches 2.16:1(6.3 GHz-13.6 GHz).3.A long slot array antenna loaded by FSS is designed.In this design,the frequency selection surface is used as a wide-angle matching layer to extend the scanning range of the long slot array antenna.The simulation results show that the design can achieve the beam scanning range of 80° and 60° of E-plane and H-plane within the impedance bandwidth of 2.36:1(5,8GHz-13.7GHz),and keep the scanning VSWR less than 3.5.The test results of VSWR and active element pattern verify the excellent performance of the design in wide-angle scanning and verify the accuracy of the design method.4.A dual-polarization long-slot array antenna is designed.The key point of this design is to solve the coupling problem of two orthogonal polarized antennas.The isolation degree of the two ports is above 50dB in normal radiation and above 25dB in scanning.The scanning range of E plane ±80° and H plane ±60° is realized within the range of 9.6GHz-15.3GHz of the two polarization units.
