Phased array antennas are extremely important electronic devices in modern mobile communication,satellite communication,radar and electronic countermeasure technology.They have extremely broad application prospects in military and civilian applications.If the planar wide-angle scanning phased array antenna achieves a wider range of coverage,the phased array antenna volume can be reduced and the production cost can be reduced.The array unit beamwidth and the inter-element coupling are the main factors limiting the wide angle scanning of the phased array antenna.Dielectric resonator antennas(DRA)have small volume,high radiation efficiency,and some modes have wide-edge radiation characteristics(no complicated antenna structure and feed structure).Therefore,this paper applies a dielectric resonant antenna to a wide-angle scanning phased array antenna.Firstly,this paper analyzes the effect of the mutual coupling effect of the dielectric resonator antenna array on the radiation characteristics of the array.During the analysis,it was found that although the dielectric resonant resonator does not support the surface wave transmission(the dielectric resonator is placed on the metal ground),there is still a large coupling between the array elements and affects the array scanning performance.Based on this,two methods for suppressing the mutual coupling effect between dielectric resonator antennas are proposed in this paper: 1.Fabricating antenna elements using high dielectric constant ceramic materials;2.Loading orthogonal polarization rotators between array elements.Both methods have good mutual coupling inhibition capabilities.Then,a wide-angle scanning capability of the dielectric resonator antenna is verified by designing an antenna array with 13 elements using a dielectric resonator antenna unit with a relative dielectric constant ?r=45.The simulation results show that when a high dielectric constant dielectric resonator antenna is applied,the array can achieve wide-angle scanning with a main beam scanning range of ±70°.And the orthogonal polarization rotator is also applied to the design of the dielectric resonator wide-angle scanning phased array antenna.The number of array units is 8,and the main beam achieves a scan of ±75°.Finally,this paper proposes to use the artificial magnetic conductor structure to improve the working bandwidth of the dielectric resonator antenna.The traditional artificial magnetic conductor structure will affect the wide-edge radiation characteristics of the dielectric resonator antenna.In order to reduce its influence on the radiation characteristics of the dielectric resonator antenna,a one-dimensional tensor artificial magnetic conductor structure is designed.With this artificial magnetic conductor structure,the dielectric resonator antenna bandwidth with a relative dielectric constant ?r=22 can be increased by 10%.Then,a onedimensional artificial magnetic conductor is used as the antenna floor to design an equidistant one-dimensional dielectric resonator antenna array with 13 elements.The center frequency of the array is 5.5 GHz,and ±70° can be realized at this frequency.The scan,wide-angle scan has a working bandwidth of 400 MHz.
