| Paper has a long history in our country and plays an irreplaceable role in the inheritance of Chinese culture.It is still widely used today.According to archaeological discoveries,paper can be traced back to the Western Han Dynasty.In the Eastern Han Dynasty,after Cai Lun improved papermaking skills,paper was gradually popularized and used generally.The skills of papermaking,different sorts of paper,and the dyeing techniques of paper have been recorded in the history.At the beginning of the 20 th century,Hu Pu’an,a scholar from Jingxian County,Anhui Province,composed " Zhishuo " a statement of paper,which can be regarded as the initial summary of historical development of paper,dicussing its origin,name,type,and dyeing process.It is also a precedent in the fied of paper history.Zhishuo is a precedent in examining the history of paper,which can be helpful to understand the tradition of Chinese handmade paper..This thesis is divided into two parts.The first part is the research on the content of Zhishuo,which is divided into the following three chapters.The first chapter briefly introduces the author and its social background and discusses the motivation and purpose of Hu Pu’an’s composition.The second chapter analyzes the contents,involving the categorization of the history of paper and the techniques of Xuan paper’s manufacturing.The third chapter compares Zhishuo with Mi Fu’s Pingzhitie,Xian Yushu’s Jianzhipu,Fei Zhu’s Shujian and Zhang Yanchang’s JinsujianshuoThe second part is a annotative collation of Zhishuo in order to provide a complete and relatively reliable edition of Zhishuo with punctuation. |
