The visual comfort of stereoscopic display is related to the color distortion in the left and right eye images.When a range of asymmetrical color information enters the eyes separately,the visual system fuses them into one color,which is called binocular fusion.In this paper,a visual psychophysical experiment of binocular color fusion is designed.Two kinds of binocular color fusion experiments are carried out on a stereo display,and the results of binocular color fusion with different colors are measured quantitatively.According to the measurement results,the prediction model of binocular color fusion is established:1.A visual psychophysical experiment of binocular color fusion was designed.The whole experiment process is controlled by special software.The main functions of the display include color characterization correction,color space conversion,stimulus color generation,experimental process control,experimental data storage,etc.2.The results of binocular color fusion with different saturation were measured quantitatively.Using a 3D display,one eye was presented with gray stimuli of saturation 0 and the other eye with color stimuli of saturation greater than 0.Experimental results show that the visual system fuses gray and color into color,but the fusion color is not as vivid as the original color.3.The results of binocular color fusion with different hue were measured quantitatively.One eye is stimulated with a color with the saturation greater than 0,while the other eye is stimulated with an equal saturation but opposite hue(a difference of 180°).Experimental results showed that the visual system perceived color saturation decreased to a large extent,even close to gray(saturation 0).4.The measured experimental data were processed and analyzed,and the mathematical model and neural network model were established to predict the results of binocular color fusion.A stereo imaging method requiring only one color image is proposed.This method reduces the color redundancy and reduces the cost of stereo imaging.A binocular inhibition mechanism is also proposed.When two eyes receive different information,they will restrict and regulate each other to achieve balance.
