With the continuous progress of terahertz source generation technology and terahertz detection technology,terahertz band has gradually become a new research hotspot.Compared with microwave band,terahertz band has the advantages of wide band,fast speed and high resolution.It has a good application prospect in the future wireless communication field.Therefore,the study of terahertz band has important theoretical and practical value.Because the traditional antenna manufacturing process is not suitable for terahertz,and LTCC technology has the advantages of low dielectric loss,low conductor loss,small size and low cost,which is suitable for the manufacturing of high frequency devices,this paper studies two kinds of antenna arrays based on LTCC technology working in terahertz band,one of which is based on LTCC technology The other is the terahertz horn antenna array based on LTCC technology.Firstly,the terahertz patch antenna array based on LTCC technology is studied.This paper studies the antenna element fed by microstrip line.The design of antenna element adopts the method of adding parasitic patch above the main radiation patch to improve the gain.In addition,the method of inserting metal through-hole around the microstrip line to restrain the surface wave loss and improve the gain of antenna element is studied.The microstrip feed network and the microstrip feed antenna array are designed.The simulation results show that the microstrip feed network of the array has large feed loss,which is difficult to bring ideal gain enhancement,and is not suitable for larger terahertz antenna array.In order to reduce the feed loss,this paper studies the LTCC terahertz patch antenna array which is fed by microstrip line instead of SIW.The SIW fed antenna unit is designed and compared with the microstrip fed antenna unit.The design of SIW fed network is studied.The LTCC THz patch antenna array fed by SIW is designed and compared with the microstrip fed situation.The simulation results show that the SIW feed network has low feed loss,and the gain enhancement effect of the array is obvious.After changing the feed mode,the LTCC terahertz patch antenna array has good gain and return loss characteristics.Secondly,the terahertz horn antenna array based on LTCC technology is studied.Two kinds of antenna units are designed for comparison.The first antenna unit simulates the inner wall of the metal horn by injecting a metal through-hole into the LTCC medium,which is easy to array and integrate.On the basis of the first one,the second antenna element adopts the method of cavity digging to reduce the dielectric loss,improve the gain,but increase the electrical size.By comparison,although the gain of the first antenna unit is low,it has the advantages of wide bandwidth and small size,and because of the small electrical size,it is not easy to produce gate lobes.Therefore,the SIW feed network and LTCC terahertz horn antenna array are designed with the first antenna element.The simulation results show that the LTCC terahertz horn antenna array has good gain characteristics and return loss characteristics,and the SIW power distribution network has good performance in the terahertz frequency band.In conclusion,the antenna array designed in this paper can have good performance,which lays a foundation for the design of larger antenna array.
