Antennas play an important part in any electric communication system, with thedevelopment of microwave and millimeter wave technology, miniaturization, low cost,high integration are inevitable requirements of the communication devices, which putsforward higher requirements on the passive devices miniaturization, especially for theantennas, application of LTCC technology can further reduce the volume of the antennato meet the requirements of the system miniaturization. Moreover, one can also take theadvantage of its integration to integrate the transceiver module on the same substrate,and change the traditional way to separate design of antenna and transceiver module.The basic knowledge of LTCC technology is introduced first in this article, andthen the development history and trend of microwave millimeter wave LTCC antenna,and after that the principle of LTCC antenna are expounded, finally combined with thedesign indexes, a LTCC antenna unit and antenna array are designed and processed, thetest and data analysis are carried out for the production, finally I give a summary of allthe work have done, and puts forward the insufficiency of the work, provides a directionfor future module design.The main research work of this paper is shown as follows:1. The project index is decomposed, and transceiver module design principlediagram are given in accordance with the requirements of indicators, and then list outthe selected chip components and their data sheet.2. The aperture coupling structure of the multilayer patch antenna element model isdesigned, combining with the actual situation of LTCC structure and engineeringapplication. To achieve the expected target simulation software HFSS13are taken, andafter that the antenna array units are designed, after optimization we finally reached abetter results.3. Finally the actual model is produced, and the reflection coefficient testing andpattern testing are carried out for the fabricated antenna unit, and then the data analyze.Practice has proven that this design of LTCC antenna unit and array can meet therequirements of the indicate, and the layout characteristics of LTCC are fully exploited and integrating the components on the same substrate can realized too, which providesintegrating design of the antenna and the T/R module components for the future.
