Study of UWB-antenna and60GHz wideband antenna are the main job of this paper. With the rapid development of science and technology, the wireless communication technology is growing towards the trends of high speed, wide bandwidth and large capacity etc. Ultra-wide band (UWB) antenna system takes the bandwidth of GHz and very low transmitting power. It does not occupy the already used crowded frequency bandwidth and is developing towards the direction of voice and data communication. Along with the development of communication, radar, radio astronomy and remote sensing system, many new broadband applications can be developed, such as high definition television, video and data digital transmission because of wide effective band, the millimeter wave communication has obtained more and more attention.60GHz system has the advantages of small size, wide frequency band, high data transfer rate, big attenuation and high security etc.Based on the basic theory of microstrip antenna, an innovative microstrip monopole UWB antenna has been analyzed and designed in the first part of the paper. To avoid the interference of WiMAX and WLAN band, two notched bands are designed in structure, which can filter the two bands and achieve good notched band performance. A60-GHz substrate-integrated cavity-backed slot (SICBS) antenna array with parasitic patches is firstly designed in the second part of the paper, achieving high gain and wide bandwidth. In order to further enhance the gain and bandwidth of antenna, a2x2antenna array is designed using a2D parallel feeding network. Low temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) substrate is adopted for antenna fabrication. A microstrip line to ground-signal-ground pad transition is designed, allowing antenna measured by RF probe. The measured S11shows that center frequency is60GHz with a bandwidth of23%. The measured gain for the4-element antenna array is9dBi with about2dB fluctuation over the frequency range of57-64GHz. The research in this work for the design of UWB antenna and broadband millimeter wave antenna can be expected to provide helpful guidance to the theoretical analysis and engineering applications.
