W-band millimeter-wave radar has the characteristics of good miniaturization, high resolution,all-weather work, etc. It is widely used in vital signs detection, security monitoring, intelligent traffic, especially automotive radar. There is a strong interest in W-band millimeter-wave radar. The W-band millimeter-wave radar RF front-end and devices are investigated. The main contents are as follows:The W-band millimeter-wave radar RF front-end with three transmitters and four receivers is presented. Some key technologies which include frequency synthesizers,intermediate-frequency circuits, microstrip antenna arrays,RF vias, and PCB layout are researched. The measurement results show that the phase noise of 25.6 GHz output signal is-92.70 dBc/Hz@1MHz.Good flat power of the output FMCW signals is achieved. The receiving path can work normally. In the research of millimeter-wave radar devices,a small power amplifier and a low noise amplifier are designed based on GaAs technology. The measurement results of the small power amplifier show a peak gain of 19.2 dB at 99 GHz with a relative 3-dB bandwidth of42%(from 67 GHz to 103 GHz).The saturated output power(Psat)is greater than 14 dBm in the 3-dB bandwidth frequency range with a peak value of 17.1 dBm.For the low noise amplifier, simulation results show that the gain is around 20 dB at 60 GHz to 90 GHz,and the noise figure is better than 3 dB.
