Research On Huawei's R&D Internationalization Strategy

With the continuous participation and integration of China's economy into the global economic development,more and more Chinese enterprises choose the road of international development.Among many Chinese enterprises with international development,Huawei,as the world's leading information and communication technology(ICT)solution provider and 5G technology leader,occupies an important market share in the international market.The arrival of 5G era also makes its influence in the international market growing.Huawei's achievements in internationalization cannot be separated from technological innovation and strategic decision of R&D internationalization.Since 2018,the United States has carried out multiple repression and technology blockade against Huawei,and Huawei has maintained its performance growth after adjusting its strategy.Therefore,it is necessary to study how Huawei promotes R&D internationalization strategy and make dynamic adjustment,so as to provide reference for Chinese enterprises to carry out R&D internationalization.This paper uses case analysis method to study Huawei's R&D internationalization strategy,which includes the following contents: first,sort out the relevant literature,conclude the concept and research framework of R&D Internationalization;Second,summarize the subjective and objective motivation,organization and management,development status and characteristics of R&D internationalization of Chinese enterprises as a whole,and compare the status quo of well-known enterprises;Thirdly,it analyzes the subjective and objective motivation and the necessity of Huawei's R&D internationalization;The fourth is to analyze the organization and management mode of Huawei's R&D Internationalization in different stages,and summarize characteristics in each stage;Fifthly,by sorting out the main events of us crackdown on Huawei and technology blockade,this paper analyzes the impact of the crackdown on its R&D internationalization and Huawei's countermeasures;The sixth is to provide some enlightenment by summing up the experience and lessons of Huawei's R&D internationalization.This paper systematically analyzes the dynamic adjustment of Huawei's R&D internationalization strategy by innovatively constructing a three-dimensional research framework of subjective and objective motivation,organization management and innovation achievements.This paper finds that the overall level of R&D internationalization of Chinese enterprises is constantly improving.The main motivations are technological innovation,market acquisition and resource integration.High tech manufacturing industry is the industry that focuses on R&D internationalization.According to the analysis of Huawei's R&D internationalization strategy,the subjective motivations include Huawei's corporate culture,R&D philosophy,organizational operation structure and triangle subdivision R&D organizational structure;The objective motivations are that the policy environment,economic environment,social environment and technological environment greatly affect Huawei's strategy making.Huawei's research internationalization can be divided into three stages according to the stage of technology development.The strategic layout of R&D internationalization has gradually expanded to the global market.According to different development goals,development directions and development regions,Huawei has adopted different entry modes and organizational forms,and gradually formed a complete industrial chain in the world.Since 2018,the U.S.has imposed sanctions on Huawei,which has seriously affected Huawei's consumer business and operator business.Its R&D internationalization strategy has been adjusted to focus on the existing technical advantages and deeply cultivate 5G fields and software applications.Finally,based on the experience of Huawei's R&D internationalization strategy,this paper gives some enlightenment,including maintaining the concept of innovation to achieve technological independence,adjusting strategy in combination with enterprise development goals,making good use of resources to build an independent industrial chain.
