With the wave of urbanisation sweeping through China,a large new social group-migrant workers-has emerged since the 1980s.Migrant workers not only make up a large part of the migrant population, but are also an important part of the urban population. In search of a better quality of life, migrant workers give up their previous agricultural jobs to work in the cities. However, due to many factors such as the household registration system, social atmosphere and personal psychological barriers, the process of identity reconstruction and re-cognition of migrant workers faces many obstacles, and they are caught in the identity dilemma of being non-urban and non-agricultural,which makes it difficult for them to truly integrate into the city. The issue of migrant workers' identity is a comprehensive social problem that has attracted widespread attention from all walks of life. This paper attempts to help migrant workers rebuild their identity and enhance their social integration through the construction of community archives from the perspective of archives,so that they can integrate into the city in a better and more active manner, actively and enthusiastically participate in urban construction and contribute to social and economic development.By making use of the evidential, cultural and emotional values of community archives, the social memory of migrant workers is preserved through the use of community archives, and a rich and authentic social micro-history is created that incorporates the voices of migrant workers, enriching the content of archival research and demonstrating archival social concern. In the first part of the paper, the theoretical foundations of the construction of migrant workers' community archives are outlined:identity theory, archival memory theory, community archives theory and archival value theory, and the specific significance of these theories for the archives of migrant workers' communities is summarised. In the third part,we analyze the necessity of constructing community archives for migrant workers from the perspective of the problems, and draw on the excellent cases of community archives in foreign countries to refine the analytical framework for constructing community archives for migrant workers. In the fourth part, the museum of migrant workers' culture and art is used as the object of empirical analysis to summarize the experience and shortcomings of the construction of migrant workers' community archives in China;finally, based on the identity theory, feasible countermeasures for the construction of migrant workers' community archives are proposed in view of the actual problems and shortcomings of migrant workers' archives in China.
