A Resarch On The Data Govenerance Of China Merchants Bank

With the deepening of the reform and opening up of China's financial market,China's commercial banks are facing pressure from the debt side,the asset side,the banking policy and the domestic and foreign economic situation.In the face of the dangerous market environment,in order to achieve stable operation,most commercial banks choose the digital transformation Road,from scale driven extensive operation to intensive operation.Data governance plays an important role in the operation and management of commercial banks.Only by implementing data governance can data truly become the second engine for banks to improve their management level and meet the challenges of the financial market.How to build a data governance framework suitable for its own development strategy has become an urgent problem for China's banking financial institutions.In 2016,China Merchants Bank officially proposed to speed up the promotion of financial science and technology strategy,and promote the company's transformation to a "network,data,intelligent" future bank.As the core element of financial science and technology,the governance effect of data directly determines the promotion path and speed of financial science and technology strategy.Therefore,it is necessary to systematically examine the current situation of data governance work of China Merchants Bank,find out the deficiencies and put forward suggestions for improvement.This dissertation reviews the development process and current situation of data governance of China Merchants Bank,adopts the theoretical framework and maturity model of data governance of commercial banks,and systematically analyzes the deficiencies and excellent practices of the data governance system of China Merchants Bank from four areas and eleven capability items by collecting and sorting out literature and combining with survey questionnaire.From the research results,China Merchants Bank has basically established a data governance framework with clear rights and responsibilities,complete functions,and a digital platform that can meet the needs of business development and data application,thus effectively supporting the value creation of data assets.At the same time,the research also found that China Merchants Bank has problems such as poor internal data sharing and insufficient data-driven in product innovation.In view of the above problems,this dissertation puts forward a number of optimization suggestions for data governance and digital transformation of China Merchants Bank from two aspects: consolidating data foundation and building data middle platform in an all-round way.China Merchants Bank,as a commercial bank with outstanding business performance in recent years,a comprehensive analysis of its data governance system will help to understand its own shortcomings and constantly optimize and improve,and provide experience for other commercial banks in China to establish data governance system.
