South Korea,driven by policies,has begun to use the cultural products to spread its culture worldwide and has become a typical case years ago.In 1992,with the promotion of diplomatic factors,Korean TV dramas took advantage of CCTV as an entrance,and became the most popular overseas drama genre in China.Nowadays,Korean TV dramas have stepped from TV screens to online platforms,and evolved from the classic television trend of the last century to the phenomenon-level communication combined with social media platforms.Based on the 5W model of communication as a theoretical framework,combined with statistics and status of Korean TV dramas,this paper aims to analyse Korean TV drama's cross-cultural communication process and communication features in China on social media platform.By choosing KBS as the analysis object,and taking 2011 as the time node to divide it into two stages.Through quantitative analysis,and by using Baidu Tieba and Sina Weibo as the social media platform reference,this paper compares the content and form of KBS Korean drama social media development in different periods.According to the analysis,Korean TV dramas on social media platforms have always adhered to content strategies with diversified themes,market strategies that maximize the interests of viewers,and internationally positioned communication strategies.In the later stages of development,KBS Korean dramas adopted the perspective of realism,social media as a communication channel and the use of fan economy to generate revenue.It is further concluded that Korean TV dramas on social media platforms have three major dimensions of innovation,new communication content,new communication channels and new communication audience.Through the specific analysis of the case,the trend characteristics of Korean TV dramas on social media platforms are summarized,and the innovations of Korean TV dramas on the basis of 5W are summarized.Based on this,the transformation strategy for the development of Korean TV dramas on social media platforms is derived.In terms of repositioning the communication concept and improving the cultural proximity of TV dramas,it provides experience for domestic dramas to spread overseas through social media platforms to make up for the shortcomings of domestic dramas overseas.
