Research On User Experience Of Different Deletion Methods In Smartphone Operation

In common shopping and chatting apps,deleting some similar options is a very frequent interaction.With the development of mobile product interaction methods,the industry has appeared to use different gesture interactions to complete the same deletion task.In general,different deletion methods can be divided into several categories,such as click-based delete,slide-based delete,and long-press delete,according to the type of gesture interaction.Which of these deletion methods is better,and what kind of use scenarios are suitable for is a problem worthy of discussion.In this study,the QQ message page was used as a design prototype to investigate,and the task of deleting an item was used to evaluate the efficiency and satisfaction of different deletion methods.It consists of three series of experiments.In the first experiment,the deletion methods were classified and three representative deletion methods were selected.The reaction time record and the scale score were used.The usability research was focused on the selection of the optimal deletion method under different task scenarios.Experiment 2 was based on Experiment 1 to study the distribution location and architecture design of the option box where the deletion was located to infer the different design of the option box.For the effect of the deletion effect,the third experiment gone step further,starting with the delete button itself in the option box,and taking sliding deletion as the research object to study the effect of its arrangement position and color on its efficiency and satisfaction.The three experiments progressed accordingly,the observation objects gradually became microcosmic,experiment one focused on external validity,and experiment two and experiment three proposed specific and optimizable factors for research.The specific method was to use Axure to make a variety of high-fidelity operable prototypes.At the same time,there was inserting the variable that recorded the time in the prototype,and then recording each gesture operation of the user with the screen of the mobile phone.It was presented in a visual way,so that the response time and error number of each interactive operation could be obtained.After the operation was completed,the SAM questionnaire was used for the main observation evaluation.About 40 college students were used each time.Experiment 1 collected the usability levels assessed from two aspects of efficiency and subjective experience by collecting the operating time,number of errors,and subjective satisfaction evaluation of SAM in the process of completing the specified delete task in different ways at different task item levels.Based on the results of Experiment 1,Experiment 2 explored the spatial dimension of the long-press style,and compared the arrangement of the two pop-up option boxes and the performance of the two pop-up boxes on the page when the deletion task was completed.Differences in performance and subjective satisfaction.In Experiment 3,based on Experiment 2,the sliding type was selected as the research object,and the position and color of the deleted keys were explored in combination.The key comparison was made in this way in which the contrast color was significantly different(that is,the color of the key is irrelevant to the theme and significantly different from the surroundings).It was related of the experiments are as follows.The results of experiment 1 show that when there is only one deleted item,the sliding performance is used to delete,and the users performance and subjective satisfaction are higher.When the re are more than one error item,clicking the check box type works best,but the long press type is not dominant in the task situation.The results of Experiment 2 show that the operation time is not significantly different when the pop-up box is in different positions(central area,bottom area)in the long-press style,but the subjective satisfaction is high when the option boxes are arranged horizontally in the central area.Experiment 3 shows that for the deletion method,the contrast color matching is more efficient,but the subjective satisfaction is not significantly improved compared with the saturation color matching method.Through the above research,the following conclusions are reached.When there is only one error item,sliding deletion is preferred;when there are more than one error item,it is recommended to click the check box.If you need to use a long press to delete,it is recommended to place the pop-up box in the center of the screen and use a horizontal arrangement.At this time,the user has better experience and the higher satisfaction.Finally,when the key that has matching color is obviously compared with other surrounding options,the satisfaction is not much different,but the user is more efficient to use.The significance of this study is to provide guidance for various deletion methods through subjective and objective data,provide more reference for the design of this field,enrich the existing research and design of gesture operation of smart phones,and provide some new ideas for the research of touch screen interaction design.
