Since the first virtual reality journalism work was born in 2012,after nearly six years of technological development, the production cost of making virtual reality journalism and the cost of VR displays have been declining. Both the capital and the academic circles believe that virtual reality journalism is one of the development trend of the future journalism industry. But so far, virtual reality news has not entered the daily life of the public, and the level of work of virtual reality journalism is also mixed. How to make virtual reality journalism to achieve a good user experience and communication effect is a problem faced by virtual reality news.At the same time, the 360-degree panoramic viewing mode and experience of virtual reality journalism is very different from traditional video news.Traditional news theory and practice are difficult to guide the actual production of virtual reality journalism. It is necessary to explore from the characteristics of virtual reality news itself. The theoretical mechanism of user experience and communication effects in virtual reality journalism.Virtual reality journalism has its own particularities. The basic feature of virtual reality news is immersion, and in order to ensure the authenticity of news and achieve a certain communication effect, the linguistic symbols in virtual reality journalism are indispensable, the most important is subtitles and narration.Studies have shown that linguistic symbols in the virtual reality environment have a negative impact on immersion and news recall effects. How to balance the relationship between these three indispensable important factors,to ensure good immersion and enhance the news recall effect is a crucial issue in the practice and research of virtual reality journalism. This study used 3×2 two-factor random block experimental design to examine the immersion and news recall effects of subtitles and voiceover on virtual reality news users. The experimental results show that: First, subtitle behavior has a significant impact on immersion, and when users experience virtual reality news, the immersion caused by static-follow subtitles is significantly higher than 120-degree subtitles, and the difference between 120-degree subtitle group and non-subtitle group is not significant.Second, subtitles have a significant impact on the news memory effect. The news recall level of the user watching the 120-degree subtitle virtual reality news video is significantly higher than that of the non-subtitle groups, and the difference between the static-follow subtitle group and the non-subtitle group is not significant.Third, the native language voiceover and foreign language voiceover have a significant influence on the news recall effect, and the memory of the native language voiceover group is better. The research results show that the subtitle behavior of virtual reality journalism has a significant impact on users' immersion, and subtitles and narration have a significant impact on users' news recall. Finally, based on the research conclusions, this study provides a powerful reference and inspiration for the production practice of virtual reality journalism, and discusses the limitations of this research and the prospects for future research. This study initially explores the influence mechanism of linguistic symbols of virtual reality journalism on users' immersion and news recall, and theoretically enriches the research results of virtual reality journalism user experience and communication effect. It can also provide reference for communication studies wich based on experimental method in the future. It provides relevant suggestions and references for the production of virtual reality journalism, and provide theoretical basis for the production standards of virtual reality journalism.
