| The "General High School Biology Curriculum Standard(2017 Edition)" requires students to gradually develop scientific thinking in the learning process,such as being able to explore and explain life phenomena and laws by using models and modeling methods based on biological facts and evidence.Modeling is an important method of scientific thinking,and the ability of biological modeling is the key ability that senior high school students should have.It is of great significance to develop a tool that can evaluate students’ biological modeling ability scientifically for the improvement of students’ modeling ability and the development of model construction teaching.This study uses literature research method,questionnaire method,interview method and paper and pen test method to develop a modeling ability evaluation tool with biological characteristics,and uses the developed evaluation tool to evaluate students’ biological modeling ability.Firstly,the author uses the literature research method to review and analyze the domestic and foreign literatures about the construction of biological models and the evaluation of modeling ability,and analyzes the development steps of modeling ability evaluation tools.Secondly,through the form of student questionnaires and teacher interviews,the author conducts a survey on the current situation of the teaching of biological model construction in senior high school,and analyzes the problems and reasons in the teaching of biological model construction in high school.Thirdly,combined with the construction process of biological models and SOLO classification theory,the author developed a modeling ability evaluation tool with biological characteristics,and evaluated the biological modeling ability of senior high school students.Finally,according to the results of the investigation on the teaching status of biological model construction and the evaluation of students’ biological modeling ability,the author puts forward the strategies for improving students’ modeling ability.The practical research results show that: First,the biological modeling ability evaluation tool developed in this study has high reliability and validity,which can evaluate students’ modeling ability.Second,the level of students’ biological modeling ability is highly correlated with academic test scores,so students’ academic test scores can be estimated based on the level of students’ modeling ability.Third,the biological modeling ability of high school students is generally low,and the vast majority of students’ modeling ability is at level one,that is,students can extract concepts from problem situations,but cannot construct reasonable biological models.In order to better carry out the teaching of biological model construction and improve the biological modeling ability of high school students,this paper puts forward some promotion strategies from the two levels of schools and teachers.At the school level,we should pay more attention to model construction teaching and offer model construction theory courses.And for teachers,they should systematically learn theoretical knowledge,mine biological model resources,select modeling activities at the student level,and strengthen the evaluation of students’ modeling ability. |
