Logical reasoning ability is the key ability of mathematics,which runs through the process of mathematics learning.Eighth grade students are in the stage of connecting the preceding and the following in the learning process of junior high school.The cultivation of logical reasoning ability has an important impact on the improvement of their mathematics academic level.Based on the literature review of "logical reasoning",which is one of the six core qualities of mathematics,this paper analyzes and sorts out the existing research,and puts forward the following two research questions according to the research background:(1)what is the current situation of eighth grade students' logical reasoning ability?(2)What are the strategies to improve the logical reasoning ability of eighth grade students?Based on the contents of the literature,three research tools are developed:student test paper,student questionnaire and teacher interview outline.This paper selects 200 eighth grade students from a public junior middle school in Hangzhou as test paper test objects and questionnaire survey objects,and 6 front-line mathematics teachers as interview objects to carry out actual investigation and data collection.Using SPSS software and Excel software to analyze the data of the test paper and questionnaire,and combining with the interview results,we get the following conclusions:(1)the logical reasoning ability of the eighth grade students is not particularly strong,and there is no big difference.(2)The eighth grade students' logical reasoning ability is the weakest in the graphics and geometry module,and the reasonable reasoning ability is stronger than the deductive reasoning ability.(3)The difference of logical reasoning ability between men and women is mainly reflected in the difference of thinking and expression;the difference of test paper is not significant,but boys are slightly better than girls.(4)Through correlation analysis and regression analysis,it is found that logical reasoning ability has a positive predictive effect on academic achievement.The main innovation of this study is based on solo classification method,combined with the content dimension and structure dimension of logical reasoning,to score the level of logical reasoning according to different levels.Based on the analysis of the current situation,the following teaching countermeasures are put forward:(1)Construct mind map and form knowledge system.(2)to cultivate the ability of examining questions.(3)Standardize the writing of proof process.(4)More reflection and summary after the question.Another feature of this paper is: Taking the teaching design of 2.4 isosceles triangle determination theorem as an example,by integrating the four teaching strategies into the teaching design,in order to provide some teaching ideas for the front-line mathematics teachers to carry out the teaching activities focusing on the cultivation of eighth grade students' logical reasoning ability in the future.
