| STEM education refers to the education of Science,Technology,Engineering and Mathematics,which has the characteristics of authenticity,participation,application and inclusiveness,aiming at cultivating students’ STEM literacy.Implementing STEM education,cultivating students’ STEM literacy,improving students’ innovation ability and cooperation consciousness,meets the requirements of today’s social development.Chemistry is characterized by experiments,which is consistent with the nature of STEM experimental exploration.It also has the natural advantage of cross-discipline.With the help of chemical knowledge,STEM education can be carried out well.This paper mainly from the following aspects:First of all,the reason for selecting the topic is explained,the research status at home and abroad is sorted out,the purpose and significance of the research is explained,the research methods and ideas are introduced,and the relevant concepts are defined.Secondly,interviews and questionnaires were used to understand the implementation of STEM education in a middle school in Nanjing,and a STEM teaching model was constructed.With "materials" as the theme and based on the STEM education concept,three teaching cases were designed.They are Desertification Land Treatment--Preparation and Water Absorbing Performance Test of Superabsorbent Resin,Chemical Fertilizer Pollution Prevention and Control--Preparation and Slow Release Performance Test of Zinc-Fertilizer,Dye Wastewater Treatment--Preparation of Nano Cu2 O and Performance Test of Degradable Dye,and have selected appropriate subjects for teaching practice in a middle school in Nanjing.Then the teaching effect is analyzed by means of teaching evaluation,questionnaire survey and student interview.Finally,the conclusion is drawn and the shortcomings of this study are reflected.The results show that:(1)It is feasible to combine STEM education with chemistry teaching;(2)STEM education based on chemistry can significantly improve students’ STEM literacy. |
