China is a country of poetry.Junior high school students are at a poetic age.Learning modern poetry can help improve students’ aesthetic appreciation and creative ability.How to effectively carry out modern poetry teaching in junior high school is exactly what this article is trying to explore.The first chapter mainly elaborates on the problems existing in the teaching of modern Chinese poetry in junior middle school.Firstly,the modern poetry anthologies in the textbooks are unreasonable;secondly,teachers’ modern poetry teaching has problems such as stylization of teaching,literal interpretation,and unified evaluation;finally,students do not pay attention to modern poetry and cannot understand modern poetry.Can’t learn modern poetry.In general,the current modern poetry teaching lacks guidance and direction.The second chapter points out that Cleanth Brooks’ s text reading method is most suitable for introducing modern poetry teaching in junior high school on the basis of combing the text reading method at home and abroad.The masterpiece "The Well Wrought Urn",which combines the practice of close reading of Brooks’ s poetry,proves that Brooks’ s close reading of text is universal.At the same time,it clarifies the connotation of several important terms in Brooks’ s text reading method combined with modern poetry examples.These terms are relatively easy to understand and have a strong operability,which is very suitable for the introduction of modern poetry teaching in junior high schools.In Chapter 3,the author summarizes four strategies for perusing modern poetry from Brooks’ "The Well Wrought Urn".Because these perusing strategies are highly maneuverable,the author advocates that modern poetry teaching should be organized by teachers and students should use them independently.Brooks reads poems closely.Teachers also need to change the traditional way of evaluation and conduct a comprehensive evaluation of students from all angles.At the same time,the author tried to read Mu Dan’s "I See" by using Brooks’ s text reading method,and made a teaching design for "I See" based on the close reading.
