The tourism industry’s demand and supply sides have been impacted by the normalization of pandemic.As one of the export sources of tourism talents,the tourism management major of secondary vocational schools is linked to the long-term growth of China’s tourism industry and puts forward higher criteria for the professional quality of tourism talents.The optimization of teaching methods for tourism majors in secondary vocational schools has become one of the most critical ways to increase the teaching standard of tourism majors in secondary vocational schools,because of changes in curriculum and teaching goals under strong demands.In Jiangsu Province,a mandatory professional basic platform course for tourism service and management majors of secondary vocational education is Local Scenic Spots Guide.It is a key course offered by secondary vocational schools that incorporates philosophy and experience.However,the current course focuses largely on the theoretical teaching of the material of the Tourist Guide Certificate test,with little attention given to the creation of practical skills.Even though the course is taught using the situational teaching approach,the results are not satisfactory.As a result,it is critical to develop new teaching methods for the course Local Scenic Spots Guide.The application status of situational teaching method during Local Scenic Spots Guide was investigated,it was discovered that the application of situational teaching method is lagging,which means that students would not be able to develop their cognition of the course of Local Scenic Spots Guide.Therefore,certain advances in the implementation of the situational teaching method should be made to assist students in acquiring professional abilities relevant to tour guides.This study planned the teaching of the course Local Scenic Spots Guide for the tourism management major of secondary vocational schools using diversified application of situational teaching methods.This paper explains the study status of situational teaching method at home and abroad through a literature review.In-depth understanding of the present situational teaching method in the application of tourism management major in secondary vocational schools’ problems using literature analysis,questionnaire survey,interview,and other research methods,focused on two aspects of students’ learning experience and learning effect.The teaching case design of the course Local Scenic Spots Guide is carried out on this basis,focusing on the diversified application of situational teaching process,including teaching material design and class hour structure,the option of situational teaching method and classroom design,then to evaluate it by measuring the implementation impact.Finally,summarize and reflect on the whole research process.
