With the development of the Internet era,thinking ability,learning ability and core literacy are the key,instead of knowledge resources.Cultivating students' core literacy in teaching is the basic way to achieve the goal of educating people.The biological core literacy is the key ability and necessary character shown in the use of biological knowledge,concepts and methods to solve practical problems,and the modeling ability,as a key ability of biological learning,is crucial to the development of students' biological core literacy.The purpose of education is to cultivate talents needed by the society,so paying attention to the cultivation of students' modeling ability in the teaching process is not only to develop students' core literacy,but also to conform to the requirements of the times.Since the beginning of this century,the majority of teachers have updated their teaching concept under the reform of education,paid more attention to the cultivation of diversified talents and developed students' lifelong learning ability in teaching,and changed the teaching method to the direction of combining learning and thinking,teaching according to aptitude,and integrating knowledge and action.Therefore,this study,guided by the goal of education reform,tries to improve students' modeling ability through modeling teaching in class,and cultivate students' scientific thinking and develop scientific inquiry ability.In this paper,the literature research method was used to consult the relevant literature on biological models,models and modeling capabilities,summarize the domestic and international research and practical experience of cultivating students' modeling ability using modeling teaching,and found that the domestic research on improving students' modeling ability in class is mostly in physics and mathematics.While the research on biology mainly focuses on the application of modeling teaching strategies,but the research on how to improve students' modeling ability in modeling teaching is less.By using the method of questionnaire survey to investigate the high school students'cognition and modeling ability of the model,the results show that students lack of understanding of the concept and essence of biological models,as well as the consciousness of modeling.Students have a certain interest in building models in class,but do not master the modeling methods,their modeling ability is weak,especially the ability to apply models is insufficient.That is,students are not good at solving model related problems,which is relevant to the students' lack of attention to learning of biological model methods and lack of rational thinking.In view of the above problems,some modeling teaching strategies are proposed.In order to understand the role of modeling teaching strategies on the modeling ability of students at different levels,the author selected two classes with certain differences in academic performance,and used the students' initial modeling ability as control to study the development of their modeling ability.With reference to Zhu Yinghui and Li Feng's modeling ability evaluation scale,the tools for evaluating students' modeling ability were designed for specific teaching content.Then the model and modeling content of the Sujiao version of high school biology textbooks were sorted out according to the general concept of biology.Three sections "Division of Labor and Cooperation between Organelles","Environmental Factors Affecting Photosynthesis and Cell Respiration" and "Cell Proliferation-Mitosis" were selected as cases to evaluate students' modeling ability.According to the analysis of the test results of the modeling ability evaluation scale,it was found that the initial modeling ability level of the classes with better academic performance was relatively high,but after two months of modeling practice,the modeling ability of the two classes was all improved,and the gap of modeling ability between the two classes was narrowed,especially in the dimension of model building ability and model application ability,and the progress of the class with poor academic performance showed the most obvious.After that,the author reflected on the methods and strategies used in teaching practice,and combined with the teaching content,put forward the corresponding teaching strategies to improve students' modeling ability,that is,to clarify the modeling purpose and cultivate the ability of model selection;Carry out modeling activities and cultivate the ability of model building;Develop critical thinking and cultivate the ability of model analysis and correction;Expand the abstraction of problems and cultivate the ability of model application.The results of this study show that modeling teaching strategies can promote students to construct the core concept system of biology and improve their modeling and problem solving ability.Teachers can try to use modeling teaching strategies in class to improve students' modeling ability and promote the development of students' scientific thinking,However,the correlation between the improvement of modeling ability and the development of students' academic achievement as well as the impact on the development of other dimensions of biological core literacy needs to be further studied.
