In physics teaching,it is often necessary to use models to vividly display objects,physical phenomena,and physical processes that are not easy to observe or can't be directly observed to students,or to adopt these models to help reveal the nature of physical phenomena and physical laws,which is of help for students to complete cognitive process and master the knowledge of physics.It can be said that a lot of physics teaching involves physical model teaching.However,based on the analysis of the results of various tests in senior three,we find that the effect of model teaching hasn't been deeply rooted in the students' modeling consciousness.The evaluation system of the new curriculum reform makes it clear that the context plays a vital role in the college entrance examination of physics,which has been confirmed by the questions in the college entrance examination over the past three years.However,after a discussion with of some students in previous sessions,it is found that many students have difficulty in solving the problems by establishing physical models from the context,leading to the failure of the college entrance examination.This means that there is an urgent need to improve students' modeling thinking ability through model teaching.Based on the current research status of physical model teaching and students'modeling thinking ability at home and abroad,this thesis outlines the physical model,physical model teaching,modeling thinking and level division of model thinking ability.By questionnaire and case study,I research into the characteristics and weaknesses of the modeling thinking ability of students in senior three.With the investigation of the school teachers on the development of physical model teaching,I come to a conclusion that two reasons contribute to students' poor modeling thinking ability.One lies in the teachers'low awareness of model teaching and lack of an overall view of model teaching.The other is that students lack the essential understanding of physical models and modeling training based on context.Therefore,this thesis proposes three strategies for cultivating students' modeling thinking ability.The physical model is divided into conceptual models and regular models.Through model teaching practice,it is found that model teaching will significantly improve students' thinking ability above level 2 and the specific manifestations are as follows:?model teaching will make students pay more attention to the vector nature of physical quantities and physical relations;?model teaching make it possible for students to be more rigorous in thinking and build physical models in complex problem situations more easily.
