Mathematical modeling literacy,as one of the six core literacy in mathematics,investigates students’ comprehensive ability.There are many contents that students have observed in the whole process of modeling activities,so the study of mathematical modeling makes many students feel more difficult,and also makes students have negative psychological emotions such as mathematics application anxiety.Understanding the relationship between students’ mathematical modeling literacy and mathematical application anxiety is of great significance to improve the core literacy of mathematical modeling,but the current research pays insufficient attention to it.Therefore,this study will explore the correlation between mathematics modeling literacy and mathematics application anxiety of senior high school students.In this study,literature review,questionnaire and test paper survey and data analysis were used.First of all,by consulting literature,observing the learning situation of mathematics modeling and mathematics application anxiety of senior high school students,summarizing and analyzing the previous measurement methods of mathematics modeling literacy and mathematics application anxiety,the questionnaire of mathematics modeling literacy cognition and mathematics application anxiety of senior high school students and the test paper of mathematics modeling literacy level of senior high school students were preliminarily designed.After the small-scale distribution,the reliability and validity were analyzed.After the reliability and validity were good,the questionnaires and test papers were distributed from Grade One to Grade Three of two schools in Shihezi City and Alar City of Xinjiang.After collecting questionnaires and test papers,EXCEL and SPSS are used for data analysis,and the following conclusions are obtained:First of all,on the whole,high school students’ mathematical modeling literacy level is average,and their mathematical application anxiety is at a medium level.There are significant differences in mathematics application anxiety among senior high school students in different genders.There are significant differences in mathematical modeling literacy among senior high school students in different schools and grades.Secondly,through correlation analysis,it is found that there is a significant negative correlation between high school students’ mathematical modeling literacy and their application anxiety.There is a significant positive correlation between high school students’ mathematical modeling literacy level and mathematical modeling literacy cognition;There is a significant negative correlation between mathematics modeling literacy cognition and mathematics application anxiety of senior high school students.Among them,the mathematics modeling literacy level of senior high school students is negatively correlated with the classroom dimension and problem solving dimension of mathematics application anxiety.There is a significant negative correlation between mathematics application anxiety of senior high school students and modeling skill dimension of mathematical modeling literacy cognition.Finally,the nonstandard multiple linear regression equations of mathematical modeling literacy level,mathematical application anxiety and mathematical modeling literacy cognition are obtained.According to the analysis of specific data,the following problems are found:(1)Although students have some understanding of the basic knowledge and steps of mathematical modeling,their understanding is not enough;(2)Teachers pay insufficient attention to the cultivation of mathematical modeling literacy,and students’ comprehensive application ability is average;(3)Students’ mathematical modeling literacy is low,and they are more likely to have anxiety when they encounter mathematical problems that they are not good at or can’t solve;(4)Teachers play a vital role in cultivating students’ mathematical modeling literacy and reducing application anxiety.Through investigation and research,this paper puts forward some suggestions to help students improve their mathematical modeling literacy and reduce their anxiety in mathematical application:(1)Teachers should pay more attention to the cultivation of students’ mathematical modeling literacy;(2)Teachers should pay more attention to the cultivation of students’ learning interest in teaching,so as to reduce students’ mathematics application anxiety;(3)Teachers should strengthen the cultivation of students’ reading ability;(4)Teachers pay attention to unit integration and improve students’ comprehensive application ability;(5)Schools can organize activities to diversify the learning methods of mathematical modeling and stimulate students’ enthusiasm for solving problems;(6)Students should pay attention to the accumulation of mathematical culture;(7)Students should pay more attention to the comprehensive application of subject knowledge and enhance their awareness of mathematical modeling.Through the investigation of the correlation between mathematics modeling literacy and mathematics application anxiety of senior high school students,this study helps teachers realize the importance of cultivating students’ mathematics modeling literacy and reducing their mathematics application anxiety,so that they pay more attention to it in daily education and teaching activities.Furthermore,it is conducive to promoting the implementation of quality education and helping students find learning fun and grow up healthily. |
