Case Study On Psychological Adjustment Of Convalescent Cancer Patients

With the development and progress of medical science and technology,cancer is no longer means "death",gradually develops into a controllable chronic disease.Due to the long course of cancer,the disease does not heal,the wrong attribution of patients,negative emotions,maladaptive social role,this group even in a long period of rehabilitation is still facing psychological difficulties.Now,the medical model has changed from the biomedical model to the biological,psychological and social medical model,which makes us realize that the rehabilitation of cancer should not only be limited to the end of clinical treatment,but should pay more attention to the psychological state of patients.Based on this background,this study from the perspective of social work,chose the work method of individual case counseling to conduct psychological adjustment for cancer patients in the rehabilitation period.The whole service process included eight interventions.First,choose a convalescent ovarian cancer patient for the pre-test of SCL-90.Secondly,after talking with the client,we found that the unreasonable belief was the main cause of his psychological predicament.The ABC theory was used to debate with his unreasonable belief and correct his unreasonable belief.Then the social support network theory is used to strengthen the social support of the clients,and the advantage perspective theory is used to explore the potential of the clients and help them integrate into the community.Finally,SCL-90 was used for post-test,and the effectiveness of the case counseling was tested through the post-test data.The results show that case work is effective in psychological adjustment of cancer patients in convalescent period.By summarizing the effectiveness of the service and reflecting on the deficiencies of the service,this paper puts forward the following suggestions : First,to build a community support system for cancer patients;Second,develop medical social workers to support cancer patients;Third,improve medical social security,expand the strength of medical assistance.The author hopes to draw public attention to this group by intervening cancer patients in the convalescent period,and to provide theoretical and practical basis for social workers to intervene in the psychological adjustment of cancer patients in the convalescent period.
