Under the background of economic and social development,people’s awareness of democracy and participation has increased.In 2016,China put forward the core literacy of Chinese students’ development,and the 2017 edition of senior high school political curriculum standard proposed that the core literacy of ideological and political courses includes political identity,scientific spirit,awareness of the rule of law and public participation,among which public participation literacy is one of the necessary qualities for citizens to participate in society.Junior high school is an important period for a person to socialize,and it is also a critical period for him to mature.Therefore,the research on the cultivation of junior high school students’ public participation literacy conforms to the trend of the times and is conducive to students becoming qualified citizens.Therefore,it is of great significance to study the cultivation of junior high school students’ public participation literacy.On the basis of literature review,taking Fengxiang Middle School in Weiyuan County of Sichuan Province as an example,this paper studies the current situation of junior high school students’ public participation literacy,analyzes the causes of existing problems and puts forward strategies in order to provide reference for western county schools to cultivate junior high school students’ public participation literacy.This paper mainly includes the following five chapters:The first chapter,on the basis of collecting,consulting and sorting out relevant materials,puts forward the background and significance of the thesis,and expounds the related problems of public participation literacy at home and abroad,clarifies the research contents and difficulties of the thesis,clarifies the research ideas and research methods,and explains the innovation and shortcomings of the thesis.The second chapter,on the basis of defining the concept of public participation literacy,introduces the relevant theoretical basis of public participation and clarifies the necessity of cultivating junior high school students’ public participation literacy.In the third chapter,through a questionnaire survey of some students and parents in Fengxiang Middle School of Weiyuan County and interviews with some teachers,based on sorting out and analyzing the data,we find out the effectiveness of cultivating junior high school students’ public participation literacy,and at the same time,we find that junior high school students have problems such as insufficient depth and breadth of public participation knowledge,weak overall awareness and initiative awareness of public participation,need to improve public participation ability and less public participation actions.The fourth chapter,combined with the analysis of questionnaire survey and interview results,summarizes the reasons for the problems of junior high school students’ public participation literacy in the following four aspects: first,the school pays insufficient attention;Secondly,the professionalism of teachers’ public participation cultivation is not strong;Third,students’ sense of ownership is not strong;Fourth,parents’ training methods are more traditional.The fifth chapter,based on the analysis of the problems and reasons of junior high school students’ public participation,puts forward the cultivation strategies of public participation literacy,which can be summarized into four aspects: first,strengthen the construction of school teachers and broaden the channels of students’ public participation;Second,make good use of the classroom main position to cultivate students’ public participation literacy;Third,enhance students’ awareness of public participation and improve their ability of public participation;Fourth,change parents’ educational ideas and renew their cognition of children.
