In 2011,on the basis of vigorously promoting the basic curriculum reform,the Ministry of Education issued the "compulsory education physical education and health curriculum standards",which emphasizes that schools in all regions of the country should learn to use the regional ethnic traditional sports to enrich the school physical education teaching content.Western Hunan and Hubei is located in the border area of Western Hunan and Southwest Hubei,where there are many ethnic minorities.The traditional sports of ethnic minorities are rich and diverse,and the folk customs are unique,which has rich ethnic sports cultural resources.This paper mainly explores the development and application of school-based curriculum resources of Minority Traditional Sports in Western Hunan and Hubei.By using the methods of literature review,field investigation,interview,questionnaire survey,mathematical statistics and logical analysis,this paper makes a random questionnaire survey on the physical education teachers of 26 junior middle schools in2 states and 1 city of Western Hunan and Hubei,To understand the actual situation of the development and application of school-based curriculum resources of traditional minority sports in this region,the investigation contents include: the current situation of sports teachers resources,sports content resources,sports venues and equipment resources,natural resources,information resources The current situation of extracurricular and holiday time and the application of curriculum goal orientation,class arrangement,teaching methods,learning evaluation,extracurricular activities and so on.The results show that:(1)there are abundant traditional sports resources of ethnic minorities in Western Hunan and Hubei.(2)Most of the junior middle schools in Western Hunan and Hubei Province are not satisfied with the number of PE teachers;Lack of professional venues and equipment of traditional minority sports;The geographical environment around most schools does not meet the needs of development;The resource development of spare time and vacation time is not fully utilized;The orientation of curriculum objectives is not accurate;The arrangement of class hours is not enough;The physical education teaching method and the teaching organization management way are unitary;The evaluation method of physical education learning needs to be developed;The number of extracurricular activities of minority traditional sports is very few;There are some traditional minority sports that can not be applied continuously.(3)The factors that affect the development and application of school-based curriculum resources of Minority Traditional Sports in Western Hunan and Hubei are: lack of funds for the development of minority traditional sports;P.E.teachers are lack of innovative consciousness in the development of curriculum resources;The propaganda of traditional sports culture of ethnic minorities is not enough;The evaluation system of school-based curriculum of minority traditional sports is not perfect;The construction of PE teachers should be strengthened;Sports venues and facilities resources are not satisfied.The main promotion strategies are: increasing the investment in the development of school-based curriculum of minority traditional sports;Improve the development and innovation ability of physical education teachers;Strengthen the propaganda and promotion of traditional sports of ethnic minorities;Improve the evaluation system of school-based curriculum of traditional minority sports;Strengthen the physical education teachers and strengthen the human resources team;Scientific and rational development and utilization of natural geographical resources and the surrounding ethnic sports equipment resources.
