Implementation of multicultural education is significantly necessary for Chinapresently, which is a multi-ethic country. Socio-economic aspects has madesignificant development because of the integrated education, however, the naturalecology and cultural ecology might be destroyed, and social development mightbecome no sustainable. Therefore, this thesis draw on the theory of the integratedmulticultural education put forward by Professor Tengxing, and is based on the threelevels of curriculum standards, i.e. national, local, and school-based curriculum,proposed by the new curriculum reform in China, This study was taken in Urumqi,Xinjiang, which has more than49ethnic minority groups, and aimed to research onthe the development of school-based curriculum for traditional ethnic minority sports.We hope the results could help the minorities study the main ethnic sports culture,and simultaneously study their own ethnic outstanding sports culture. This thesis willgive a case study of Urumqi First middle school, and research on the development ofthe school-based curriculum in ethnic minority areas, and try to provide somereference and experience for their sports curriculum reform. The main results are asfollows:Firstly, it is appropriate to implement the school-based curriculum for traditionalethnic minority sports in Urumqi middle school, and there are lots of favorableconditions could be used. The corresponding development strategies and programs,as well as the experiences and lessons, could serve as some valuable references forother minority schools.Secondly, Urumqi is a multi-ethnic settlement area, the school-basedcurriculums tested in Urumqi middle school are appropriate to develop, implementand promote the similar curriculums in other minority schools.Thirdly, physical education teachers could play a important role in thedevelopment of traditional ethnic minority sports in the middle schools. However,most of physical education teachers do not have sufficient knowledge on thedevelopment of school-based curriculum. It is very necessary to broaden theunderstanding of traditional ethnic minority sports for physical education teachers,via various ways and methods. The physical education teachers should deeply studysome minority sports, which have strong fitness effect and are suitable to bepromoted. Moreover, some excellent local traditional ethnic sports should be introduced to the physical education for youth, in order to develop better minoritysports culture.Fourthly, if the traditional ethnic minority sports can be used for thedevelopment of school-based curriculum, it is suitable for different ethnic students tounderstand different cultures, and could promote the exchanges between the variousethnic students, and help to shape good campus sports culture, and it also couldpromote the unity of different ethnics.
