As a comprehensive art,drama has become an important link in Chinese teaching.According to the requirements of the new curriculum standards,learning drama is of unique value to improve students' core literacy of Chinese,and is of great significance to the development of students' language construction and application ability,thinking ability,aesthetic appreciation ability and creative ability.At the same time,it combines literature,music,dance and other factors skillfully,and becomes one of the important ways for people to understand history,society,broaden their horizons and reflect real life.Because of its importance,it is particularly important to learn drama.Facing drama teaching,the first thing to be clear is "how teachers teach and how students learn".New criticism,who is active in British and American literary circles,has produced a set of drama appreciation theory in a large number of teaching practices,which really teaches students how to read works.On the basis of combining the theory of close reading of new criticism,this study tries to apply its steps of drama appreciation to the teaching of Chinese drama in senior high schools,providing students with a simple and easy-to-operate method of drama appreciation and a new theoretical method for the current drama teaching.The thesis is divided into the following parts:Introduction: On the basis of expounding the significance of applying new critical theory to Chinese drama teaching in senior high schools,this paper analyzes and chronicles the research status of drama teaching at home and abroad,the research status of Chinese drama teaching in senior high schools and the related research of applying new critical theory to Chinese drama teaching in senior high schools.The first part of the text: On the basis of a brief review of New Criticism's development history and the influence of the new criticism theory on Chinese academics,this paper focuses on the analysis of tits close reading theory.After a comparative analysis of the critical practice of New Criticism,it is found that dramacriticism has a complete set of steps.This simple and easy-to-operate drama criticism step of new criticism is easier for students to accept,and then it can be applied to the teaching of Chinese drama in senior high schools to help students discover the uniqueness of each work.The second part: The second part: On the basis of analyzing Brooks' close reading practice,it criticizes classical works of drama at all times and in all countries.And through the following steps of drama criticism,the author criticizes the selected drama articles in the unified edition of high school Chinese: 1.Guide students to find the images and symbolic meanings in drama;2.Guide students to find metaphors in drama;3.Guide students to find irony and paradox in drama;4.Guide students to find ambiguity in drama;5.Treat drama as an organic whole.The third part:Inspired by the steps of appreciation of drama of new criticism,the teaching design of three classic drama titles selected in the second volume of compulsory Chinese for senior high school in the unified edition not only meets the requirements of the new curriculum standard for students to master the basic knowledge of drama,but also applies the new criticism theory as a drama appreciationmethod to concrete teaching practice,helping students to better understand drama and improve their independent reading ability.The fourth part: The application of any theory will bring about the problem of suitability and discomfort,and the application of New Criticism theory to Chinese drama teaching in senior high schools is no exception.This requires us to look at it from a rational angle,not only to see its advantages but also to see its discomfort.From the practice of the New Criticism theory,it is undoubtedly a beneficial attempt to apply it to the teaching of Chinese drama in senior high schools.Conclusion: On the basis of the above research and analysis,it summarizes the significance of applying the New Criticism theory to the teaching of Chinese drama in senior high schools.First,regard drama as an organic whole.Secondly,when appreciating drama,we should take the text as the center and comprehensively consider other influencing factors.Third,pay attention to the images in drama and their functions of symbolism,metaphor,irony,paradox and ambiguity.
