After entering the 21 st century,the tide of education reform has pushed the ability to solve problems to a higher status,and all countries in the world have taken the ability to solve problems as an important ability in education reform plans.Educational evaluation is the guiding content of educational reform.More and more countries emphasize the examination of problem-solving ability,and many international scientific evaluation projects have included problem-solving in the evaluation of scientific literacy.Scientific reasoning is a kind of high order thinking ability and an important embodiment of problem solving level.It is urgent to know how scientific reasoning ability is involved in solving physical problems,and whether and what kind of influence the development of scientific reasoning ability has on students’ solving physical problems.Understanding how students solve problems and the relevance of scientific reasoning skills to problem solving can help them understand how to develop problem solving skills,provide counselling strategies,and implement assessments that combine reasoning and problem solving skills.This study is carried out from the following aspects:Study1: Assessment of scientific reasoning ability.The LCTSR scale is used to evaluate students’ scientific reasoning ability to understand the overall level of students’ scientific reasoning ability and the development level of reasoning ability in each dimension.Study2: Evaluation of problem solving performance.According to the classification framework of physics problems,the two solutions in the academic test are classified,and the highest processing level required by students to solve each problem is analyzed,so as to understand the overall level of students’ problem-solving performance.The correlation between the overall level of students’ scientific reasoning ability and the performance level of problem solving is analyzed,and the correlation between the performance level of students’ scientific reasoning ability and the level of this form of ability when they use a certain form of scientific reasoning ability to solve physical problems is analyzed.Research four: scientific reasoning and physics problem solving thinking process of comparative analysis of selected test hypothesis deductive reasoning in scientific reasoning test scale projects and involved in the physics exam hypothesis deductive reasoning test questions as the interview task,the students who took the test for clinical interviews,analysis of the process of reasoning and problem solving mind mentality and obstacles,and comparative analysis of the actual role of scientific reasoning ability in solving physical problems,and further explore the correlation of scientific reasoning and problem solving.The conclusions of this study are as follows:(1)The scientific reasoning ability of senior high school students is at an intermediate level,and the development of reasoning ability of various dimensions is unbalanced.The students all come from the same urban high school,and the influence of educational experience and social environment on them is almost the same.The most important factors that influence the development of their scientific reasoning ability are the school education,such as the influence of teaching mode.The conclusion that most of the students’ scientific reasoning ability is in the middle level may reflect that there is room for improvement in the teaching mode and teaching method of the school.It can also be seen from the interview results of students that students pay too much attention to theoretical knowledge and rules themselves,but ignore the correlation between hypothesis and factual evidence,and their evidence-based reasoning consciousness is not strong enough.This may be related to the incomplete process of scientific inquiry experienced by students in learning,or the insufficient depth of scientific inquiry in teaching.(2)There is no correlation between high school students’ scientific reasoning ability and physical problem solving.Through to the sample student scientific reasoning test scores and physics discipline result of correlation analysis,and then for the reasoning group in each question the number of the highest possible level of cognitive processing of comparative analysis,and analyses the hypothesis deductive reasoning in the title of scientific reasoning ability test scores and the highest possible level of cognitive processing to solve problem of correlation,the results have shown,scientific reasoning ability is not associated with physical problems.There are many factors that can affect the physical problem solving,experiencing physical problems need to solve the certain physical knowledge,methods,ability and quality of thinking,etc.,physical ability of problem solving also contains a lot of content,such as retrieving information based on facts,perform a simple calculation,integration of basic physics knowledge and through symbolic representation ability,scientific reasoning ability is perhaps one of the factors influencing physical problem solving,and can’t play a decisive role.The research also got some enlightenment,one is to strengthen the students’ ability structure in-depth research,promote the physics teaching comprehensive education;The second is to pay attention to the process of evaluation,pay attention to the test of various abilities.It is expected to provide reference for the reform of physics teaching.
